My advice to everyone is this : if you want to grow big this year especially in your finances. Be willing to take risks. Saving is great but taking risks puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. Distributions from Betashares ETFs are ordinary, at best. A200 seems to be the only one that pays over $1.00 in dividends, but A200 now cost over $120.00. It might be more economical just to buy CBA, for example.

Hi @betashareexplains, I'm finding the Betashares hedged ETFs vastly underperform a similar US domiciled ETF. Returns below from Betashares & Invesco websites for the 3 yr period ending 31 Jul 24 Betashares HNDQ 3-yr annual return: 6.43% (Cumulative: 20.56%) Invesco QQQ 3-yr annual return: 9.6% (Cumulative:31.77%, US domiciled, so assumes exchange rate fixed) Do you know why the hedged ETF underperformed so badly? Fees don't explain the big difference. I expected HNDQ return would be close to QQQ (comparing the % returns to someone who invested in US dollars only) as the currency factor has been removed.

Franking credits is tax credit that is owed to you and not tax that has been avoided! It is often portrayed by the ones who wish to abolish it as some big tax dodge, which it is not!

Have you made any adjustments here for franking credits and/or the foreign exchange movements as the US dollar vis-vis Australian dollar has been somewhat volatile over the years. The US also has its own tax methods which may ultimately result in any net return differences between the two countries after the various credits. It is the foreign exchange differences between Australia and the US from time to time that interest me.

the common theme is that investors suffer the loss while others profit. As I invest heavily in Betashares ETF, and their price fluctuates often, we still suffer the loss, irrespective of the ETF. Long term for those over 60 is often pointless as we can die at any time.
