It happened to me yesterday after 2 years using a brand new LG TV and indeed I fixed it that way as you shown. But I was wondering what cause this problem? It is very weird...In case for example changing the whole "faulty" cable with a brand new one it will work or the only solution is to cover some pins with tape?
I asked myself the same question and to be honest I am not sure. I have read somewhere online that it is actually a problem in the LCD panel itself. Glad you got your set going :-)
@raysrepairsottawa I see...And that fix is temporary or soon we will need a new TV? 🫤
I have done 3 of these repairs and none have come back yet. Oldest one was about 3 years ago. Can't say for sure if its permanent.
The tape decks are mostly the same. Jvc/Kenwood/Technics all use the AR300 tape deck. they all have the failure of the center gear becoming brittle and breaking teeth off. theres a few ebay sellers who are making new gears from 3D printers. :)
I have a single Kenwood KX2020 with the same mech , repaired it with a AliExpress gear set .
You would think would you cd player manufacturers would of found someway to rectify these common problems/issues surely they could come up with a belt free motor.
The link of spider web browser please 🙏🙏🙏
I believe it is part of the Lubuntu installation. Doing a Google search, there is a Github page for the source code for the browser. You should be able to download it and build it from there.
Ok
What’s versions is ??
Lubuntu 12.04 for PPC
Ok
From the video, it looks like you have the anti-skate spring attached to the anti-skate cam. The spring is only used for the anti-skate set up and should be released once the optimum weight is set.
Where are you located in Ottawa? I'd happily pay you to have a look at my two VCRs that need repair.

Does the operating systems allow you to adjust the CRTs resolution and refresh rate?
Honestly, I don't know, but I would highly doubt it.
@@raysrepairsottawa thanks 😊

Instead of replacing the component can I just replace the whole board?
Yeah, if you can get the whole board it will be easier.
how install ubuntu in that emac? is usb boot suported?
No USB boot. You will have to make a bootable CD.
Thanks for reply. Happy new year
I've made some progress..I think, but I still can't play the DVD that I have supposedly recorded. Here's the way the screen now looks from left to right: (A). Empty box with a little triangle on top (B) Horizontal box with the following words: Empty Title, 2:00:00 SP (2 Hr) (C) Empty vertical box with the following words above SP (2 Hr) Does that make any sense.? Is there now a recording on the DVD?

nice you good and i love you and yo ar to good
I believe in this particular model if it's not running, the pause arm/lift shouldn't work. Only while it's running. I believe there used to be a label on it indicating that.
Thanks for your comment. I will keep that in mind.
Nice video! I think the most helpful parts were edited out though - this would be the disassembling of the SOAD70A mechanism from the chassis and then putting it back together. It would be great if you could add these parts back to the video.
Thanks for the comment. If I remember correctly it was only a few screws holding it in, so I didn't think it would be necessary. I will keep it in mind for future videos.
Can you show the location of the screw you adjusted to fix the pause lever? I don’t see a screw in the area you are pointing to in the video. Thanks!
I don't have the turntable anymore so I cannot take a photo to show you a close-up. If you can take a close-up photo of the tone arm from the top view I can try to pinpoint where the screw hole is. It is very small and you would need a jewelers type screwdriver to fit in there.
@@raysrepairsottawa I will get a photo tomorrow. Thanks!
Actually the arm lifter is not supposed to engage unless the platter is turning and the arm is auto-lifted. Then it lowers and lifts fine. It is diabled again if one presses CUT. This is a feature, not a defect. There was probably nothing wrong.
Also this machine mutes when not playing. Anyone know how to service this if it goes wrong and stays muted as one channel is on mine?
If I am not mistaken, the MUTE function makes use of a mechanical switch underneath the unit. If you follow the signal cables I am sure you can locate it. Perhaps the switch is sticky and needs to be cleaned.
I’m having the same issue with the pause function on my KD-3070. I’d love it if you could do a detailed view of what you did to fix yours.
My Sony player will work perfect if I have 5 cd's in it. If I don't have 5 cd's then when I go to "disk skip" or "Exchange" it will just keep spinning the tray and finally after a minute it will stop. With 5 disks loaded it works as it should.
Can you please share the link of new MOSFET purchase? DigiKey's link with MOSFET model?
Great video. I have the exact same model that doesn’t turn on. No power. I checked the fuse. That’s fine. I have 120v going into the unit but I’m not sure how to test the other components. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi. If the unit is completely dead its more than likely a issue with the power supply. The board is located under the DVD drive and it is removable which makes for easier testing. I would start by examining the power supply for any obvious component failure, leaking caps etc.
@@raysrepairsottawa thanks for the reply. I checked the capacitors, and nothing seems obvious. No bulge and no liquid. I did check some of those diode‘s and I’m able to get voltage forward and reverse on a few of them. I am not that experienced a troubleshooting small electronic components, so any help would be greatly appreciate it.
It's really quite difficult troubleshooting something when it's not in front of you. If I still had the unit, I could have given you the voltage measurements from the output of the power supply board, however, I have already returned it to the client. Do you get any sort of output voltages from the power supply board? I would try checking the high voltage side first and following the voltages until they stop. This is about as much advice I can give without seeing the unit myself.
Great video everything proven vhs tapes don't have bad picture quality everything proven people don't do good enough job setting up tvs like my own tv settings when I fixed the color settings everything was great it was on 50 had turned that up 75 on to the backlight need to be on 30 at all times on to the sharpness being on 50 had turned that down on 0 on to the brightness being on 50 had turned that down on 35 y it was to much brightness on to the contrast need to be on 100 at all times everything proven it was great now it's bad people don't like hereing the truth now days tvs causes problem's on people's thinking now days specially when they are not set up right at all and people want you to believe that vhs movies causes problem's yet everything proven that is not true at all again your video is great

Hi, I have this exact unit it’s making a clicking sound when in Play. So everything works it plays, rewinds, fast forwards , but it makes a constant click when in play. Any suggestions what it might be? Thank you!
I can only suggest it sounds like a cog is missing a tooth and "slipping" . Can only really tell if you open it up.
Theres a good chance its missing teeth on the same cog as the video, mine also developed a rhythmic click and its missing 2 teeth on the same cog as the video aswell.
It seems this gear and mech in general is common enough of a failure to have replacements, RDG5772ZC looks like its correct and has the same tooth count, ill verify when it arrives(will take a while though)
confirmed that the replacement fits and works.
41 Volt's that's the power supply output
I notice you are not using the anti-skate weight in this video. I have this turntable and that weight arm falls of about 2/3 of the way through the record. Not sure how that would get adjusted though
'Promo sm'
That's pretty cool. Found any use for it?
Returned it to the client, he was happy, not sure what he will do with it.
❤️🙌
I'm hoping to finish the repair of one these decks today. It has the fault of a plastic finger has broken off the D10-1406-03 Direction Arm, incredibly I found a NOS part from an online seller. It's not much of a machine, in fact it doesn't appear any manufacturer made a good cassette mechanism after the advent of Compact Discs.
🇮🇩,,,, asallammuallaikum 🙏👍👍👍👍👌👌👌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍🔊
I have a p350 and sometimes the draw sticks just before it fully closes. Could this be a belt issue too?
It's a possibility. Only way to be sure is to open it up and check.
I've replaced these and usually they fail when the LEDs in the TV start failing short. Make sure to fix the LEDs in the tv set too, it looks like a couple have failed short which stresses the power supply.
Thanks for the feedback.
Nice, but a suggestion. Always test the MOSFET out of circuit too, yes it shows a short in circuit, and normally it is the source of the short, but it's worth spending the 10 seconds to test it out of circuit or at least confirm the short is gone when it's removed. Nice to show on camera too as validation of the diagnosis. I suspect you do this anyway but it's helpful to show it on camera for those new to repair.
Thanks for the feedback.
Nice work! It's crazy to think about how many TV sets like this get tossed only because a tiny component went bad...
Thank you for shering Ray:)
Well done repair
great repair
You need to buy a 3D printer to make new parts for these vintage things [unfortunately that modern ~ 2000-2010, KENWOOD cassette deck has Chineseum crap mechanisms inside it, not surprised it has failed 🙄] if it was vintage, it would be a more worthwhile repair
Yeah, I agree, if I had more of these units coming through I would think of investing in a 3D printer. :-)
Hope you can find a replacement somewhere….
