One of your subscribers here. Great job chasing the tails! Finding, spooking and relocating them is tops! I am in Austin as well & would love to hit the coast with you some time! Or a local meet-up as well! I'm in a Hobie Outback with a Newport NK180. I vary from camping to renting AirB&Bs. I primarily fish from CC up to St, Charles Bay areas and in between. I've been looking at Powderhorn Lake & the islands out past the ICW in POC, but haven't gone yet!
I’d be happy to hit the coast with you. It’s always nice to have someone to fish with. Let me know your availability. You could hit me up on Facebook or Instagram with a dm.
Great job done my brother nice Reds. 👍
I appreciate it brotha. more to come.
Awesome job buddy!
Thank you, brother. It was a hell of a day. I got another one coming down the pipe soon.
@@TiggsTailsFishing looking forward to it!
I watched this today at Ace Hardware with 2 of the associates and built it in the store. Thanks for the great idea; I needed something like this!
Awesome! I am happy to hear that. Works well for me. Thought it might for others w a few minor adjustments. Soon to try it w an insta 360
@@TiggsTailsFishing looking forward to more ideas on other mounts too in the future
there are a few things wrong in this video. first off 14 gauge wire is only rated for 15 amps. that trolling motor can pull as high as 30 amps... thats a fire waiting to happen. second there is no way your amp draw is only 3.4 amps at full speed... your meter likely isnt working right.
You are correct. Even though I’ve never had an issue with the wires I have beefed them up. And the draw was incorrect yes. Especially since it wasn’t in the water with drag. Thanks for the correction.
Your dang microphone is so good is was picking up all your breathing. Had to turn down the volume and enjoyed the video that way. Really liked how you had the music+voiceover. Sounded like a legit show you would see on TV.
Thank you brother. I don’t think the mic is THAT great. It’s just me. I breathe and whistle softly at the same time. Plus I’m way outta shape. I appreciate the kind words and I appreciate you watching.
June 5th? I got caught on St. Charles Bay near Big Tree in Lamar on my 106PDL in that unforecasted storm. Harrowing experience and a valuable lesson learned!
Yes. I believe so. I need to check the computer for exact date. Came quickly and big temperature drop. Same?
Yessir. I got to chasing some tailing reds and didn't notice the storm approaching until the temp dropped and the wind shifted. It was too late to make it back to the launch at that point. The lightning was fierce!
Nice Reds my brother. Glad you made it home safe take care and have a blessed week my brother.
Thank you, brother appreciate it. One of these days we will get down there together.
Yes sir 👍
Nice video man!! Looks like quite the day! I’ve always wanted to make a kayak video for my channel!! Love watching your videos mate! Awesome job, keep it up! 🤝💪
Thanks for the kinds words. It means a lot to me. It was definitely an exciting day. I can’t begin to thank the Lord enough for protecting me that day. I appreciate you watching.
Excellent video and catches. Glad you were ok with that storm. I’ve had the same thing happen a couple times down here in Louisiana. Similar fishing to you! Hope you will like my channel. Cheers! Subscribed.
gotcha back. I'll check out yours after i get back from church. thanks for watchin
I fish all that water as well. I got tossed out of my boat from a wave off a tanker ship at Dagger island. I also lost ignition on the motor a different time in Copano and had to be rescued by the warden. Be careful.
Holy crap that must’ve been scary. Glad you’re OK. I will definitely keep a closer eye out.
I spent the day at San Luis pass fishing off the back of my Aunt's rental yesterday. Nothing but sharks and one tiny red. Awesome video bro. Nice reds.
I heard San Luis pass is super dangerous. Is that true?
@@TiggsTailsFishing If you Google map 13015 Gulf Beach Dr. That's where we were and looks like it's falling into the gulf from an overhead view, but it was a pole house raised up. You can see where we were fishing. Off the back porch in the shade all day. I saw guys Wade fishing up to their necks and heck yeah that place is super dangerous. I would not go in the water. No way!
There were some reel nasty ones that sprung out of nowhere this week! Thankful you made it out OK. We were actually down in Aransas Pass for the week, just got back to New Braunfels last night
I was grateful to not get struck by lightning. As always, thank you for watching brother.
We were just in new Braunfels, the other day. Schlitterbahn.
My son & I experienced the same kind of thing several months back. Glad you're well - good red catches!
Thank you, my brother. I really enjoyed your last video.
Solid video bro. Love those crazy weather days!
I tried to keep going after the storm, but I was afraid to film due to the lightning
Better keep an eye on mother nature !!!!!! Nice video
Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate it. I need to keep a closer eye on the weather. 😂
great job!
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video. I certainly appreciate it.
Hey buddy! I moved to Houston six months ago and I really want to visit this place... I have a question... is it a safe place? What about the alligators in this zone
No gators there not that I’m aware of anyway
@TiggsTailsFishing Thanks my friend !!
I am in Austin as well and just got a 12T with trolling motor and wanted to connect with you to see what I need
Yeah, I’m visiting Houston right now. Can I get back to you here in a minute?
I would definitely recommend some upgrades from what you see on the video so hold tight and when I have some time, I will let you know
@@TiggsTailsFishing no worries for sure, take your time no rush.
Yeah, I’m celebrating my nephews graduation. If I have some time, I’ll holler back at you.
What questions do you have so I can get to start thinking about them
Trying to finish up my mods , steering and I want to add a safety cut off. All the ones I can find are N/O and are meant to ground the coil on a fueled motor. Obviously backwards for this application. any thoughts?
I’ve been looking for one as well and it’s been rather difficult
The one I found that I liked was discontinued for safety reasons I think
Well beans...I will have to use the fuse yank that another youtuber does, this will be a temporary adaptation as I want a refined solution. Thanks for the reply , tight lines, dry pants.
4 wire dryer cable. It has 4, 50 amp wires in it. Wont get hot under load.
Love it thanks for the tip
Thank you for the prayer.
Absolutely, God is good.
Hey brother, I got a question for you I’m in the middle of doing mine right now my perception, outlaw, 11.5 and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth buying all the electronics or just use the potentiometer that’s out of the trolling motor head they say you lose a little bit of power through heat through this, but is it enough to have to go through and build a complete electronic box, I am leaning more towards the factory one out of the head. What is your thoughts?
The benefit of a potentiometer is that mid range speeds will give you better battery life. But if you’re maxing it out pretty often it’s really not necessary because at top speed, The potentiometer is not saving you anything. The factory potentiometer will give you a constant draw most likely 30 A if you’re using an endura 30 something like that. if you have any other questions, let me know because I know there can be a lot when doing this build. If you have 100 amp hour battery, the factory would be fine. i’ve also run close to seven hours on 2 35amp power batteries.
Hey, also if you didn’t see the pinned comment, I would definitely beef up the wires to a ten gauge
This is perfect. Thanks for the info, I’m gonna build mine this weekend so I’ll let you know how it goes. New sub from Oklahoma. Looking forward to more of these!
I’m glad you liked it. I was getting concerned that nobody had any interest in it. I have some shots of it on my latest bass video still working on tweaking the angles but so far I like it. If I can get to it I’m gonna put together a video and how to film Fishing. Thank you for the nice comment all the best to you.
I edited my last comment so it made more sense.
I was just curious if you did the build and how it worked out for you?
Great video! I like your storytelling.
Thank you sir. Some love it some hate it.
where is the cutout if you fall out of the kayak?
Yeah, never did get around installing that Woopsie
“Aksmaniyak” has a video on it. He’s very good with wiring and PWM’s. You can check him out. Also I appreciate you watching.
czcams.com/video/2wKHG52T9-c/video.htmlsi=htthWpV6CQJQup6c
You could also buy a Killswitch and mount it Into the side of the kayak, where the wires are running underneath cut the red wire connect it between the Killswitch prongs and then you could have it that way so you don’t have to mess with the PWM
Here’s a link for that set up. czcams.com/video/WUkDXqi_Tak/video.htmlsi=H2gx1qKNtdN_1unh I hope this helps
Thomas so good to see you back and active. Unless all this was done before your surgery. Any way awesome video.
Before. End end of this month I should be back.
Length of wire matters. If you’re going to extend your trolling motor wiring you should get a larger diameter wire (lower gauge) to avoid losses and heat building up from pulling high current through it.
Agreed I since upgraded to a bigger wire, a.k.a. smaller gauge, and probably could go two step smaller. I think that comment is pinned for anybody that is looking to use this as a basis for their set up.
Looked like a fun day on the water. Can tell alot of details were considered structuring the video. Exceptional job!
Been watching a lot of yours too lately you do a hell of a job editing
Awesome vid.
Thanks!
That’s awesome I saw this happen with a snook I caught in Florida and trout in Louisiana anyway that was cool
It certainly was. His speed and power was incredible to see up close. Definitely rocked the kayak
Nice.
Thanks!
Got em! Nice fish bud
Thanks it was a difficult two days only a couple of reds
Hey! Its Devin from the store 🍕 lets get together after New Years. Merry Christmas, and happy fishing my brother.
Absolutely
That marsh is sick...watch the tide though.
I love this idea...cheap and effective. Nice.
Seamless video brotha, I know those edits take alot of time and planning. Dropped a sub.
It must’ve taken 100 takes. And I’m gonna cut the first 13 seconds anyway thanks for watching brother I appreciate it.
Better patent that joker! I like it. Great story line, solved a real problem too. 👍🏼
Excellent. Love the angles that can be achieved with that!
For those with pedal drives: you might need to increase the height or length of this setup. This mount serves as a base to help you cater to your situation. Increasing the length and or height of the pvc risers can get you around your drive. Still allowing you to get the boat side shot. Comment if you have any questions. Tiggs.
I really like it. Do you think I'd need any modifications to your build to work with a pedal drive?
That might be somewhat of a challenge if you’re constantly peddling. I have to think about that one. Let me get back to you.
I think it would still work you would just have to play with the angles a little bit
And possibly extend the 6 inch PVC to a 12 inch
Slamshady? Mulligan? One thing I do is use the Golddigger version when the water is cloudy for better contrast. Good fishing friend///
I originally had a Z man 5 inch paddle tail when I downsized I went to the Mulligan because I got them for free. 😂
I appreciate you watching
I don't get them for free but dont go fishing without them. Try the Goldigger in cloudy water@@TiggsTailsFishing
Nice, this is right up my alley. Nothing like picking off redfish out of the kayak in a Texas marsh! You have a new subscriber here
Thank you brotha. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the sub. I hope to hit a new one soon.
Any chance that you could provide an update on how this is working out after 1-2 years? Are you still using it as you set it up in this video? Is there anything that you would do differently today? It looks like in current videos that you are running a bow mount trolling motor. Can you also give thoughts on bow mount vs transom mount? Thanks!
The setup is the same plus a few upgrades. I increased the gauge of the wire size. I would recommend a 10 even thought the wire from the trolling motor is 14. Idk why they did that. I called minnkota and they recommended the 10 also especially since the wire travels a good distance to the front. Battery upgrade to a lithium for sure. Spending money is worth it in the LONG HAUL if you plan to have the kayak for an extended period of time. Lighter weight more speed. I would also upgrade the box to a smaller size so it could be mounted closer to me. I also upgraded the ports and plugs. Also I would recommend make a short wire set up to directly connect the battery to the trolling motor if the pwm fails so you would still have power to get back. I upgraded to an old town autopilot for my birthday. Much more streamlined. I still use the ascend when I take friends out. The bow mount would be good too. But would probably need a remote as opposed to using the foot pedal system. Hope this helps. Hit me up if you have any other questions.
@@TiggsTailsFishing Thanks for the quick and thorough response. I'm planning on adding a TM to my Native Slayer Max this year. Probably going to go with a transom mount TM setup like you did in this video with a Lithium battery. This helps work out all the pieces and parts that one needs to consider. Thanks again!!
