Great Q&A with Ed and Joshua today! The below Q&A begins at minute 40:46: Question: How do you minister to a person who was assaulted and is asking “How do I overcome my fear that it may happen again?” Answer (this is my synopsis of what was communicated): Inform the person of these two truths: (1) Jesus says we will have problems; (2) He promised to use problems/suffering for our good. To help the person practically, 1st know the person has an “intellectual belief about God,” but “their heart” is believing something else. Primarily, it is something the person believes about God (e.g., who God is; what God does, etc.). We cannot convince that person “out of their fear” based on what they intellectually believe. However, the Holy Spirit can convince the person to believe His perspective [i.e., what He wants the person to know] which will resolve that fear, even though it doesn’t change the possibility that s/he may be hurt again. The person can still have the peace of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:16a reads “Now may the Lord of peace [L himself] give you peace at all times and in every way”(Expanded Bible). If the person is not experiencing the peace that Christ promises, it’s because something is keeping that from happening. Tell the person to focus on what it feels like to believe the rape will happen again. Then ask the question that’s in the “Emotion Box,” “what comes to your mind as you focus on that emotion.” Then, lead the person through the remaining steps of the TPM process. Ed stated people he has worked with have had the outcome of God speaking to their heart, and even though they recognize they may be raped again, it does not scare them b/c they now have heart belief that they can trust God; they will not get to this belief “intellectually,” or because of scripture being quoted to them, or because of what we or a counselor tells them. The Holy Spirit must persuade them of a truth of scripture that only He can bring into their heart; this truth that He both brings to them and persuades them of can eliminate that fear. Elimination of what the person fears requires God to shine His light into the person’s heart. The Holy Spirit will bring that person “God’s perspective [i.e., what God wants the person to know],” and His perspective will resolve the fear. When the person sees (believes) how much s/he is loved by God, that belief in God’s perfect love will cast out All fear, even the fear of what may be occur in the person’s future (1 John 4:18a: “Where God’s love is, there is no fear [L There is no fear in love], because ·God’s perfect love drives out fear [T perfect love casts out fear]” (Expanded Bible). When we know the truth (and “a truth” we need to know is we can trust God), we won’t fear. There is One who is greater than our painful experiences, and that One is God. He can speak to us about our painful experiences with authority that is greater than the experience. God does not deny the truth about the painful experiences that happened to us, but He gives us His greater perspective about them (He provides a greater truth that supersedes or explains our experience); when that happens, the individual sees their suffering from a greater and different perspective. Joshua stated (at Minute 45:13) that when you know the truth, you will Not fear. Example of working with a rape survivor is provided at Minute 46:08 - Ed walks us through having applied TPM with a rape survivor. He asked her what she believed, and then asked God to provide her with His perspective about the assault and her beliefs. He stated that God spoke to her heart and thereby resolved her fear and panic resulting in her reporting the fear was gone. Joshua added that the fear of being attacked again is probably not producing that fear (at Minute 48:02). When painful things happen to us (or to someone we are trying to help), don’t try to convince ourselves (or the person we are trying to help) of the truth (about what happened, about us, about God, etc.) b/c it is impossible to do that; instead, say “God, I see what you have done, please finish the work.” “Authority” (discussion begins at Minute 53:04) - Before someone can be convinced to believe something different, they must have trust in the “source” (i.e., the person or being that is trying to help them), and they must believe that the source has a higher level of authority than they do. Can I speak with authority into their lives that’s greater than their experience? No, but God can. God is greater than their experience. The Spirit of God was present when the person was hurt, and He can provide the person with His "greater perspective" about the hurt; a greater truth that supersedes their experience. When God does that, the person sees (thinks about, understands, believes) the painful event from a different perspective.

They do have an extra person in the room that they call an intercessor. They pray n take notes. I ask several questions about that last week when I took their 101 class. There are not enough words of HEARTFELT thanks for this beautiful process that has brought so much peace n healing into my life. I completed my Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling, but TPM is 80% of what I do. To me, one session of TPM is like a year of regular counseling. Father was right when He let us know, if we seek, we will find....and His Spirit, does indeed, lead us into all TRUTH. BLESSINGZ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

Why NOT take people back to their memories? Wouldn’t it lead Mentees to wrongly assume that TPM is about healing memories rather than mind renewal? We never need to check up on God. Like you said, Josh, the shift in perspective will be evident🙌

Dear Ed and Joshua Smith, My question is " In some cultures (Mediterranean, Southern) when someone dies, people must wear black and display grief in every aspect of their life, their mood, face and behavior, especially in countries where guilt and condemnation are prevalent in their religion. I'm hearing a distinction between spiritual transformation vs our own power to transform. That spiritual transformation requires the Holy Spirit to intervene and the problem is that we have things that block us from that gift of the Holy Spirit. So is this program aimed at helping us remove those blocks? What I'm struggling with is why it's so difficult to experience the Holy Spirit today when Biblically it seemed like people accepted that gift more readily. I'm assuming back then there was less "noise" in people's lives... I am a recovered addict through the big book and sponsor others but I feel a spiritual disconnect personally and that is a thorn in my foot telling me something is still not right. This seems very well placed.

She is still experiencing grief from the loss of her husband and is not able to move on in her life. She is willing to try TPM so I pray God will give her truth. Do you have any understanding of the false recovered memory movement? I have 14 years of study and investigation of Sozo and similar so-called ministries, after losing a family member to this anti-biblical movement. Sozo emphasis fresh, current, extra-biblical revelation over the written word. The movement morphed into churches and Bethel Sozo sprang upon the scene, arising from total ignorance of the false recovered memory movement-I have documented proof of this-and now it is growing exponentially. I am in contact with victims from all over the globe who have suffered devastating tragedy and loss, and currently filming a documentary of those harmed.
