The vocal warm up exercises…vocal straw techniques 🤣🤣🤣🤣It’s just my hobby so the approach and goals to achieve are completely different. But once I realised I loved music, listening to it, no matter wether ‘passively’ or ‘actively’ I felt sort of an urgent need to extend my passion into something more creative. I’ve been playing the piano and the violin since I remember’. Then decided to take up professional voice emission classes. I simply couldn’t help it but it made me going bonkers and goofy trying to make those sounds) It’s just a hobby so the adventure with vocal skills classes took 4-5 years. I’m M.D. and love my specialty (anaesthesiology, might seems boring at the first glance but it’s not. Not al all). But…. I’ll share one more thought on music. My parents didn’t force me into playing the piano and violin. They loved music, too so it was just natural. I must admit, though, that remember that learning to play instruments comprises not only practical classes but also a theory of music classes, history of music, rhythm theory and practice exercises etc. It brought me to quite a long period of time (dunno it was at the age of 6-7) I was hesitating and thinking of quitting it. I owe my parents motivating me in a most “healthy” (in opposition to toxic) way. There’s nothing more refreshing and thrilling to me than a sudden melody I can hear inside my head. I quickly convert it it into the sound (simply recording it by humming) or by writing notes sheets (in terms of draft). But this wouldn’t be possible without knowing the theory of music, (you might do it for fun, ofc, but otherwise most of the time you can’t mess up with tonality against the rules). I write it form my own pleasure and without hope of publication. Just writing for the desk drawer 😉 Two times broke my rule; I composed a piece of music, for my dad’s funeral, with the lyrics coming from the soul not necessarily good ones but it was not was it all was about). And, on the contrary to the requiem-like genre, something extremely joyful to my sister and brother-in-law I played and sang at their wedding reception. I can only imagine how much it hurts her now for the music (and family, ofc) is her whole life.

Watching this again after the documentary “I am Celine Dion” and I noticed she mentions the throat check ups with a doctor 10 years ago, she probably knew about this problem even then but handled it brilliantly with her amazing sense of humour.
