Rev. Sandra L. Schepis is an Ordained Minister with the Pentecostal Church of God, and a seminarian with Grand Canyon Theological Seminary. She has lead contemporary and traditional Christian worship with various churches, conferences, festivals, groups, and friends. She has performed classical solo and ensemble pieces with Grand Canyon University as a mezzo soprano. She is also a mother, wife, and world traveler. ♥

My HS Choir (Grosse Pointe South High School) performed this in 1981, and it was almost a spiritual experience at the time. I haven't listened to this since, even though the name and composer stuck with me. It's quite a vocal score, and the piano accompaniment is crazy. I remember the accompanist broke a string during one of the performances.

I sang this in 1971 at Fairborn High School. This director paid no attention to the dynamics of the song. Where the music called for pianissimo voices, they didn’t do it. Same thing for the voices when they needed to be more forceful. The choir just seems to be standing there singing the song because they have to without really knowing what the song is about. Mr. Mac Millan ALWAYS educated us what the song was about and we were able to give the song the meaning, it deserved. I was excited when I saw this video, but after gearing them sing the song, I am sorry I found it
I also have to add, John Ness Beck the composer of “Visions” came to our school and after he heard us sing his work, said the tempos were EXACTLY as he intended them to be. This choir missed those temps as well along with the dynamics
Too bad about the child’s voice. Piano too loud against the choir. But what a beautiful and inspiring work.
I sang this piece in the early 1960s, under the direction of the composer. Ohio State University Symphonic Chorus. Never forgot it

I love this piece! Very rarely performed, I think, though still in print (for 50 years now). I wish more choral directors knew of it.

My high school choir sang this for music contest in 1977. It was one of the most moving experiences of my life. This recording is one that most closely mimics the way we interpreted the piece. Beautifully done.

Is there any way of joining the choir if I'm majoring in Psychology and not it music? I don't know how I could go from being in choir since I was 11 to stopping at college.
