Not a patch on the Rodgers/Edwards version, sharp metallic sound. I wouldn't like Rodgers doing Prince's best either.

Thanks for sharing. I really dig Mid to late 1980s Scofield, @ 2:02- you can see he was using both a Fender 'TheTwin' and a Roland Jazz Chorus (!) , he was using a Stereo Set up back then. The opening motif is a bit reminiscent of John's own 'Blue Matter'

I was in college when this song came out and couldn't stand it BUT this version is a MASTERPIECE! Prince worked his magic with it and made it a terrific jam !!

People always rave about Prince's wild distorted solos but, for me, the beauty of his funky rhythms using a clean guitar sound are stellar!
