I might have to copy your first colorwork sweater because I love those colors together! Great podcast!
Love your colorwork hats…. And also your Sunset Highway wip. That was my first colorwork sweater to make and my favorite!!
Love your colorwork hats…. And also your Sunset Highway wip. That was my first colorwork sweater to make and my favorite!!
I made the Garden Cardigan when it first came out. It’s a fun, easy pattern. I used mohair held with merino so I haven’t been able to wear it much, but come the fall, I know I’ll enjoy it.
I so appreciate your podcasts and love hearing about your travels and yarn adventures! Enjoy your summer and can’t wait to see the catch-up when you return!
I enjoy your podcasts so much, so pleasant and relaxing. But you should definitely take time for you, and we’ll miss you. Enjoy your time and know we’re sending good thoughts.
Thank you for recommending the Skimmer Socks - I had never come across them before but they will be perfect! See you when you return - enjoy your break!
Patty Lyon's book "Knitting bag of tricks" shows how to avoid the holes created doing German short rows. Your sweater is gorgeous. Love that green
I agree there is a tip for resolving the purl short row in the book. It's an excellent resource
Yes, I had the same issue with German short rows on my no frills. Thought I goofed!
Hi Leanne. I love seeing that you are filming from Saskatoon. I worked for about 10 years as a teacher in Kuwait. For a while I hade a colleague/friend who called Calgary home, but for several years when he worked at the same school he would bring me a very special gift from Saskatoon after he returned from his summer holiday - Saskatoon Berry Jam! Oh how delicious that was! I always saved it for very special occasions, or when I really needed a little emotional pick-me-up. Toast and Saskatoon Berry jam works like magic. Is there anything cuter than those frogs? I haven’t ever knit with un-spun yarn and I’m very, very hesitant to get onto that bandwagon. I’m afraid house chores are calling - my visit today will have to end. Until tomorrow. Thanks for the visit. Salam wa sa’aadah
Oh what a wonderful episode, once again! Your projects are beautiful and the bits of city tour/yarn shops tour are just amazing. I feel like I get a little chance to see places I’m now unable to go by myself. Thank you for taking us along. Until next one. PS I love Artistic Yarns by Abi! Salam wa sa’aadah
Thank you for another great episode. I am glad you are taking some time to yourself. See you nest time:)
Just found your podcast, love the city tour/info and local yarn shop visit! 🥰
It was fun to see you on my recent flight to Calgary. I went on to Moncton where my daughter and her partner run a tiny chocolate factory. Next time you have a layover in Moncton, you should visit LaRouère Chocolate. It’s a cozy shop with lots of handmade chocolate bars, ice cream (in summer) and hot chocolate (in winter). Maybe I’ll see you next time I fly east!
I will need to finish my Sunset Highway as well, it has been on my needles forever!! So sorry for customs, I have not had that happen before...... I will look into that... Happy knitting, love your color choice for the Bagnol Sweater!! A joy to watch your episode, like always!!
So many fun projects and colors! Love your podcast. Have a great safe summer. ❤
Thank you for sharing your time and your knits. Have fun working those WIPs down 😊
Love love love your podcast. Have a wonderful summer.
I love your Sunset Highway! It is coming along so beautifully. And the colours in your Cowboy Crop are fabulous! Thank you for taking us around Windsor and for sharing all your makes. x
Thanks so much, Leeann, for this lovely visit to Windsor, Ontario. You really inspired me to start doing some colorwork ASAP. I really loved the WIPs and FOs that you shared in this episode. Finally, it's so important to take time out to focus on yourself. We will miss you, but will be so happy when you return. Safe travels and be happy and healthy!
Seeing the huge UniRoyal tyre brought back a lot of memories for me. I used to travel to Detroit frequently when I lived in Toronto. Though I have crossed using the tunnel a few times, I very much preferred the Ambassador Bridge. Thank you for showcasing this interesting city in addition to all your lovely makes. Enjoy your break and see when you return. ❤
Wow what a fabulous shop in Prince George , how did I miss it , there for a night last week !
Your sweaters fit you so well. Enjoy your well deserved rest and “me” time. Happy and healthy summer to you.
Have a super summer with plenty of Leanne time. Safe travels till we see you again.
Thank you Tricia !
You have to pull the thread over the needle when and after you turn for the german short row. I found a good explanation here on YT. Lovely episode as always ❤️ God bless you 💕
Thanks for the tip!
Bright colours suit you so much.
Love ❤️ love the Shetland Week Beanie. Gorgeous .
Thanks Alyson!
Shetlanders also tie their ends. I was able to examine one of Hazel Tindall's cardigans, and there were neat knots all along the buttonbands. I also like my beanies to fit snugly. I choose my needle size and stitch numbers to fit my personal gauge. As soon as the hat reaches the part of my skull that begins to curve, I switch to a smaller size needle, and for heavier than fingering weight yarns, I may use yet another smaller size. Really helps with hat height.
I really enjoyed your podcast as usual. Great projects. Have a wonderful holiday.
Thank you so much! ☺️
Hi Leanne - another great episode! Question about the Norwegian thimble. I want to try one, but why do you mention long floats? Do you only use it for stranded when there are long floats? Enjoy your time away from podcasting.
@@starrcookson hi 👋🏼 yes if I’m doing short colour changes like fair isle I just work my colourwork holding my yarn one strand in each hand. For the long floats (5+ stitches between colour changes) I feel like the thimble evens out my tension and the floats lie very flat across the back of the work and do not show through to the right side.
My Toorie came out too big also. And I actually swatched with a US 1.5 needle and my gauge was too small! But knitting it with US 2.0 needles had it come out too big. Good call on making some adjustments on your second one.
Have a great summer! ❤
Thank you! You too Ann!
Thank you! I live right across the border from Windsor.
Wonderful 👏🏼 😎
You mentioned on an earlier podcast that you liked a shawl someone was wearing on a flight. Winterlight shawl has broken rib, mesh lace, and garter. It’s a pretty one . Love your podcast and all the videos you do of Canada, take care hope you come back your knitting is inspiring.
Thanks for sharing!!
Such nice and many projects. You must be a speedy knitter. Would be nice to see you knit a little!
💖
Another lovely ‘visit’ with you, LeAnne! Enjoy a well-deserved time off 😎❤
Thanks so much Claudia! 😊
Great episode! Thanks for sharing about the Norwegian knitting thimble I have purchased one last week and would like to start on a colourwork projects, thanks also for the link to the tutorial 😊 I love the colourful yarns you knitting with!
Let me know how it goes with the thimble. It was a steep learning curve for me as a thrower, but I am glad i stuck to it. My floats hang so nicely and evenly with it!
Love your podcasts & your beautiful knits. Thank you for giving us the heads up about needing to take some time away from your podcasts. We will be here when you come back, best wishes😺🧶
Thank you Karen! As a podcast-watcher/fan myself, I appreciate knowing when a podcaster is going to be “gone” for a bit so I can stop wondering where they are. Lol 😂
Enjoy your break! Enjoy the summer , Stampede, and especially your family. ❤️
Thank you Eleanor 💖💖💗💗😎😎 Have a wonderful summer!!
Amazing that you mentioned Shall We Knit which used to be our yarn shop in Waterloo, Ontario. We miss this shop as we no longer have a local yarn shop.
Yes, I think I’m going to try and get out to Kingsville next time. I am in Windsor this month.
Hi Leanne. Your forray into dyeing yarn is beautiful! Well done! What a lovely story about the Windswept yarn - - - and the Ranunculus is gorgeous! Thanks for the trip to Ottawa! This is the third episode for today - I’ll see you again tomorrow. Salam wa sa’aadah
Oh dear you might be “Leanne’d out!”
No, not “Leanne’d out” by a long shot. I find that 3 episodes with cups of tea, lunch, a small chore in between is just perfect. I get a bit of knitting in and SO enjoy glimpses into places where you are on a layover. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to make these episodes. On to my “Leanne Fix” for the day. Salam wa sa’aadah
Love the colours, and especially on your nails, such a great green!
Thank you so much!
Oh wow! How I would love to visit Newfoundland! It has been on my wishlist for a long, long time. Thanks for taking me along. Take care - continued safe travels. Salam wa sa’aadah
💗
Hi Leanne. Since I am watching this two years “late” - you at least two years ahead of me on the Ranunculus bandwagon! I am so drawn to the pattern when I see it done as a less oversized garment. Being well over 70 years old and with a “well rounded” figure oversized garments just don’t do it for me. I’ve bought the pattern at least two years ago and have yet to knit it. After seeing yours - I’m a little step closer. I’m thinking sleeves closer to the elbow and not very cropped. I’ll have to look more carefully at some of Nancy Wheeler’s podcasts to get some “A-line shaping” increases. I’m enjoying my Knitting Stew binge. (1 episode - 1 household chore - 1 episode - 1 chore - etc.) I have a date with my iron next. Until next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Nancy’s most recent ranunculus is so beautiful and perfectly fitted!!!!!
Wow! Gotta love all your colourful colour work, Leanne. Great idea to use a colourwork chart in a top down sweater. I do that when I make my baby hoodies. I adjust for stitch count and knit the chart upside down. It works great. I will have to try it on a sweater for me. I think you will have the perfect hat when you knit your third Shetland hat. I visited Windsor when I was 11, back in 1962, so 62 years ago. My brother was interning in Detroit and my mum and I flew out from Nelson, BC (I think we flew from Spokane) to visit- my first plane ride, with full dinners with china and silverware, lots of leg room and a smoking section (gag). We drove through that tunnel under the river to visit friends in Windsor-mind boggling! Enjoy your break from podcasting and finish up all those WIPS. I will miss you, but we are all busy in summer and a good time for a break!
That is such a neat memory! thanks for your message and I will see you in the fall
So glad to see your Sunset Highway. I bought yarn for it when the pattern first came out and promptly misplaced it. Recently found the yarn and you have inspired me. Have a wonderful summer. Meet you in the fall with a bunch of FO’s!
That’s a deal!
Enjoy your time off from ‘The Knitty Stew’. Now you can concentrate on all those WIP’s and your new spinning wheel.
Thanks Janette!
Thanks for this great episode and all the precedent ones, which brought me so much joy! Best regards from Germany😊. This brings me to the short rows: pull your yarn really tight, so that the two legs of the turning stitch appear on top of the needle, and it‘ll turn upside down. So you will have enough tension to avoid the little gap in between. See you some day in autumn, take your time!❤
Thank you!! ☺️

Your Sunset highway is gorgeous!!!!! I also don't like to catch my floats, they just show through too much. Have fun enjoying Summer!!! Yes, totally got the Journey song stuck in my head, haha! Hugs, Kimberly
Thanks, Kimberly. And remember “don’t stop believing” 😉
