Hi Brin, I am wandering if it's OK to play Asturias on your harp guitar? Would it not be more attractive, and even interesting, than conventional performance? I know, we have to control extra resonance, but overall why we don't try it? You play it on 6 strings, but how about the kontra guitar?
interesting idea. I didn't have the Kontra when I did my Asturias on 6 string. The thing is I'd need to incorporate the subs in a piece that doesn't require them necessarily. I tend to stear away from challenges like that. So often I see people playing Harp Guitars... and they never touch the subs. What's the point?

Hey Brin, I noticed your right hand nails are pretty much "raw". There's a series of vidz on YT with James Taylor giving "master class" classes on playing American Folk and what is necessary, according to him, to be able to play live to an audience or studio. In one video he shows his "nail kit" tackle box he uses to prep his nails. He actually uses the same techniques nail technicians use to re-enforce nails with very thin fiber glass. Thanks for the share. It's odd you noticed my 'raw' nails. I have very hard nails, which I can attribute to having grown them since around 6 years old. I went through a period of nail treatments and all that fluff, but didn't really need them. Most, if not all, classical guitarists have a nail kit. I certainly do. Always have. In this video, my thumbnail is grown a little longer, for the extra reach on the sub strings, and that gives a better angle of attack. The nail is as hard as bone. Makes for a good screwdriver ;) From time to time, if I break a nail, I will repair it with a lay-up of CA glue, and tissue paper, just like fiberglass, but a lot less messy. We all have our tricks and needs. That's all I need, though I do appreciate your input, and hope you liked the piece.
what is so wonderful about MS is that Beethoven was asked what a moonrise looked like by a blind woman. Do you see/hear the beautiful irony of this? A transposition of sight to sound, and the emotion a moonrise evoked in a master of the craft of composition... A man who was going deaf? A blind woman asking a deaf man how a moonrise SOUNDED? How did Beethoven live with this cruelty of life? By composing what he did in his life. It is no wonder at his funeral his whole nation mourned as one. And the performance here? I believe Beethoven would have wept.

"La chitarrona" con i bassi profondi é nuova, originale, più difficile da suonare, però ha un suono troppo innaturale, pesante, goffo, rimbombante Usi poi troppo reverbero nella registrazione e così il suono che ne esce fuori appare ancora più innaturale nascondendo tutta la tipica dolcezza che invece può riuscire a produrre il suono della chitarra classica a 6 corde (accordata in D). Alla fine quel chiaro di Luna così suonato, appare snaturato da un'esecuzione totalmente sbagliata anche se eri riuscito a recuperare dal brano da te eseguito ( seppure suonato ad una velocità troppo lenta/moderata...!), un paio d'ottave in basso..

The composition is in C# minor but everyone plays it A minor on the guitar. Any reason why other than it makes it more possible to do? lol
The guitar is not a Piano. Notes aren't laid out on a silver platter for guitarists. A min is more physically executable on the guitar.
That's what I thought. I play also I wonder if a Capo or alternate tuning might sound like but it might be too high pitched. It sounds great in A minor lower on the neck.@@hypeschwartz
