yeah there were a lot of things that didn’t make sense in this movie, but that’s because at the time Hasbro was made up of executives who didn’t think about how the death of a lot of characters would affect their audience as to them. It was just a show about toys they didn’t think the kids could actually care about the characters on screen. For the G.I. Joe movie that they were also making they were going to have Duke killed however, due to the negative reception of Optimus prime, dying in this movie, they decided to quickly edit the scene, they had already made so that duke just goes into a coma.

And stuff like this is why Soundwave, wised tf up to be leader of the Decepticons in Skybound comics, as he beated and ripped the circuits out of Starscream to take leadership. I commend him for it, Starscream had it coming just in he wanted to pull this shit in the comics

I thought of it as he new he couldn’t do anything because if he stopped starscream, then the others would turn on him.

What POs me the most about this film is that it's better than all the Transofmer movies that have followed. ........ all of them.

My theory is that Soundwave was planning on coming back to find and help Megatron when the coast was clear or he knew Megatron would be back again just like a Prime which happened the same day.

Glad I'm not the other only one who never understood this abviliance from Soundwave in regards to his loyalty to Megatron. As far as I remember, Soundwave was always loyal to Megatron in the series. He also had his own mind, so he wasn't just a programmed bot Megatron had to order to do things. I'm guessing the budget or writers didn't want to waste time writing in an unnecessary gray area for Soundwave during this scene so kids, who didn't really care, could understand Soundwaves "betrayal". It's only has adults we'd be interested in a scene that answers the questions, but dear god don't let Hollywood hear or they'll fuck it up by releasing a special edition or a remake.

megatron's voice is as iconic from the original series as optimus prime, they should use that guy

Soundwave has always been the #2 guy, deliberately. Megatron gave him a direct order not to leave him, and he obeyed. Megatron did NOT order him to intervene, so he didn't. Soundwave very very rarely takes command (I can only think of one instance, in a comic) but on the other hand is always a loyal #2 to whoever the leader-du-jour is. Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream, Galvatron...whoever it happens to be.

Knowing Soundwave: He didnt intend to leave Megatron. He intended to win that fight, and force Astrotrain to go back an retreave him. But Starscream cheated, so in the end. Soundwave had a plan, but failed to account for the wildcard known as Starscream.

In my fan fiction I'd like to believe Soundwave would've been loyal to very end and stood by Megs and wouldn't let Starscream toss Megs out leading to Soundwave getting killed by Starscream (or the other Cons) only to get reformatted as the Predacons. It sorta works out: - Soundwave as Razorclaw - Rumble/Frenzy as Headstrong/Tantrum - Laserbeak as Divebomb - Ravage as Rampage Then they would show up @ Starscream coronation and he would call upon Devastator to defend him only to have Galvatron summon Predaking.

I've always considered Soundwave to be one of the one's with clout. That's why the emerging squabble is between the cassettes and the Constructicons. I just always think of there being three power brokers in the Deceptions, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Devastator. The bigger question is, why does Starscream end up the one being crowned when Galvatron shows up? It's funny, but I think he's just a compromise. The unity candidate. Also, I'm guessing they all realised if Megatron isn't dead, he'll be real pissed. But yeah, lot's of this film doesn't make sense. It's still the best though. So awesome.

That’s just stupid. How about how the shuttle robot had jet thrusters on the rear hatch … how would that even work? The engine isn’t … the cone at the end that directs thrust. What the hell do they even use as fuel for space flight? And, if the fuel isn’t a big deal … and ALL of them already fly … do they need a shuttle? How about how the whole deal of that shuttle transformer is that it can turn into three things and the second shape it turns into is a train. This was in the 1980s. Trains were already useless. Each of them can fly. Why would they get on a train? So dumb. How about why the shuttle waited until AFTER it got to space to identify that there was a weight issue. This is AFTER it accelerated to escape velocity to leave the planet. That’s dumb. They should have dumped weight first. I think each pound of water costs NASA $10,000 to get into space (each gallon is about 8 pounds). This is an issue because of the weight and the need to carry more fuel to get that weight into space … and the fuel has weight … so you need fuel to carry that fuel. How about how no one was weightless until Megatron was let go. It’s a cartoon. Nothing about it was terribly well done. Megatron is the size of a house with a canon on his back that is larger than his arm … and he becomes a pistol … everyone else already has weapons. His whole thing is to become a useless thing and somehow he shrinks down in that process and it’s a bigger deal when he fires as a tiny pistol instead of as a HUGE cannon when he’s in robot form. The whole thing is dumb.

This could easily be explained by "the directors forgot, and the animators probably" since there was no va for sound wave in that scene. Plus there was also Another errors with the eyes of sound wave while starscream "killed megatron" also astro train said there were to many people present to carry the weight without burning more fuel which he was running out of.

I think that Soundwave probably thought that Megatron was going to succumb to his wounds eventually and even if he didn’t he knew that challenging Starscream and the other Cons at that point would be suicide. Soundwave was loyal but he wasn’t dying for the cause.

Hot Rod having the Matrix of Leadership, it should’ve gave him the ability to form a bigger Autobot like ‘Defensor’ with any members of the Autobots. They would all have the power of the Matrix of Leadership as a unit, but Hot Rod being as the designated keeper.
