As soon as Crow appeared, the 5d's title for the series didn't make sense. As we had stardust, red dragon archfiend, black rose dragon, ancient fairy dragon, and power tool dragon. Five dragons crow's didn't appear until after the earthbound immortals.

I don’t think Millie and Loona lack motivation. Millie is a working girl, her motivation is earning a paycheck while she coincidentally gets to work alongside the husband she adores doing a job she’s good at and coincidentally keeping him alive. You can argue that’s not a very interesting character because she’s already achieved her immediate goals and that’s fair but that doesn’t make her a badly written character. Actually she’s rather refreshing next to the drama llamas the series likes to focus on.

Even in Arc-V Crow also fucking stole screentime by defeating characters like Gon and even Shun of all people. Both characters disappearing for a good lot of the arc after and only coming back in the climax. And of course Crow still becomes a recurring character after the Synchro arc even though there was no point to his character already. He even gets to be the first character to get uncarded because he's just that much of a creator's pet.

Aki and the twins really needed more spotlight, some of my favourite episodes are literally just fun little filler ones with the whole gang bonding and playing a family. Luke reminds me of Crow a lot. The plot bent over backwards for him at every turn and he never really developed as a character until the last episode when Yuga gave him a well-deserved loss.

Man the amount of support for Black wings is crazy and they are just giving him more. I do think crow did get worse like he was overpowered but also like sucked

23:15 THIS! Looking back to all of this now it made me remember just how everything about this guy looks like it was thought of at the last minute. His debut, out of nowhere. His friendship with Jack and Yusei, out of nowhere. His move to 3rd MC, out of nowhere. His mark, out of nowhere. His Dragon (ffs, that makes them 6D's now), out of nowhere. I'm so annoyed at all the decisions that were made with this character and all the character colateral damage.

I love the regular guy fights and humbles the powerful, its a shame they changed crow from that.

arcane on netflix was some of the best well written female characters i have ever seen in animated media the whole show is 10 out of good so if u haven't seen it do yourself a favor rly good show

I had a theory about Crow. That Aki was never intended to be part of the main trio. The fifth signer was supposed to fill that role before this idea was reworked into Crow for season 2. But due to how she was written in season 1, it gave the impression that she was going to be important. Or at least more important than intended.

Crow is the goat. Leo wasnt putting in work and aki still is a great character.

Im Crow's defense, he probably was smart enough to know that even if Yusei got kidnapped he could plot armor himself out of the situation

One small scene i think they could have done to make Crows introduction make a LOT more sense would have just been a scene with him getting out of prison and thrown back on satellites streets. Sets up that he has beef with sector security and explains quickly why he wasn't around in the earlier parts of the show. Which considering his multiple marks then shows that he's done this multiple times before and so it's not just a one time happening but a relatively regular pattern of behavior, fitting for a rogue.

Tldwr: Crow could’ve been a good mentor for Leo and Akiza In my idealized version of 5D’s Crow is present from episode 1. We don’t see Crow but he’s mentioned as the reason why Rally was able to get his hands on the d wheel upgrade for Yusei. We wouldn’t see Crow until Yusei gets sent to prison. Yusei, being the new guy, gets targeted by a prison gang. Crow helps to get the heat off of Yusei’s back in exchange for grabbing extra cards for the gang leader. He’s able to help Yusei get his hands on a deck to make their escape easier. When presented with their opportunity to leave, Crow chooses to go back to the Satellite to keep an eye on things for Yusei. Crow in the satellite prevents sector security from kidnapping Yusei’s friends at the cost of his jackals. Crow would then be motivated to go to New Domino to try to free his underlings. Crow’s role in the plot from then on is being a mentor to Akiza and Leo. He himself was never a prodigious duelist so he understands their struggles more than Yusei. He’ll still get his chance to take out a dark signer, but beyond that point he’ll leave a tuner monster with Leo to help him unlock lifestream dragon later on.

When i first saw crow i just liked him immediately from his design to his deck but always wondered cause something was missing that i never caught wind of until your vid it REALLY!! opened my eyes on some of the issues of 5ds and yes some of the writing choices is indeed questionable and down right baffling but does this change my likeness of crow not at all i still love him as a character but i now know the problems with how he was written and i thank you for it 🥰👍

Crow stole from Akiza Izinski/Aki she was so cool in the first season and had so much promise. The only cool thing about crow is his deck but then again when you meet blackwing players they ruin that 😂

To be honest i dont mind crow inclusion heck i even loved the Friendly rivalry he had yusei a true contrast to Jack Atlas fierce rivalry with Yusei also I agree he sould be more of a support character and Aki should have become a power trio with Jack & Yusei it simple have become a big brother figure for the twins and have become the Sixth Signer and Gain Blackwing Dragon outta nowhere also sorry Mangakamen but Blackwings are my favorite Archetype that came outta 5D's yeah even more than the Junk/Syrchron deck of Yusei

I agree with you about the disservice to Sherri LaBlanc. It's bad enough that in the Japanese version she's erased from existence by the Big Bads as a demonstration of their new power, but that episode, as well as 10 more, were completely cut from the English dub so we have no idea what happened to her and she isn't even mentioned for the rest of the season. We go from the Future Trio revealing themselves as the Big Bads to everyone to the middle of a feud between Team 5Ds and a team that uses the Nordic Gods, and those guys didn't even have an introductory episode!
