What I take from this video is Bret ended his OWN career as he CONTINUED to wrestle knowing he had a concussion which guess what it happens and also is just as much Brets fault as Goldbergs for the initial concussion as it takes TWO to "dance" in the ring and bret was the vet here.. just a bitter old man

Bret is the most honest person I think I ever seen in wrestling and despite his problems with people he tells the truth. always gave hbk credit always said what he had to say. I don't think anyone enjoyed working with bill

He got concussed but recalls what he said right before going to the ring? I’ve been concussed numerous times. One time in a game I got hit so hard I don’t remember playing in the game at all. I think this guy had a CAREER full of head injuries that culminated in the end of his career. Sad. Yes. But blaming one shot that didn’t even knock you out for a stroke you had way later after you’ve had brain scans looking for damage. Cmon man.

Ok. Did Goldberg end Bret's career? Yes. But blaming Goldberg is like saying a toilet seat that's been used by 500 people is dirty because of the last person who used it. Bret's had many concussions throughout his career and didn't even know it. This match was just the culmination of it all. Bret was noticebly knocked out at least 3 times during the match. You can't just blame it all on Goldberg even though Goldberg is a shit wrestler.

This was the fresh post interview on the goldberg injury. Now wcw at this point was ran like a joke. Bret was clearly hurt and no one took care of him afterwards. Given a couple advil. Lol. Any EMT doing a Legit diagnosis would know he's fucked up and needs to go to the hospital. See in the ufc once you suffer a concussion the athletic commission strictly forbids any head contact or contact of any kind for 90 days minimum afterwards. This is why ufc fighters who get brutally ko'd can come back after 7 or 8 months. After the Starrcade match Bret needed to be taken off the road immediately. After subsequent match he had afterwards was putting layers on top of layers on an already injured brain. Facing sid and nash and Terry funk in a hardcore match? Damn. None of that should have happened. I'd like to say goldberg ended his career. But wcw did as well by not taking care of Bret and I even put some blame on Bret for not stepping in for his own health and saying wait a minute I'm messed up. But he just won the world title. The big gold belt. That meant a lot to Bret. But there needed to be powers to save you from yourself. I think if proper post concussion protocols were followed much like in the ufc. Brets career wouldn't have been ended.

If Bret lives to be 100, he'll still be whining about how Goldberg "ended my career."

When I heard about what happened to Jake sister I was shocked and saddened.

Grizzly smith never apologized for all the pain and harm he caused Jake and his siblings! Even on his death bed!

The sad thing about seeing Grizzly Smith here at the 0:50 mark, is that if you know absolutely nothing about him or his relationship with Jake and the circumstances behind Jake's conception, then you could just look at it as a sweet little moment involving a father who loves his son. Jake I think, has said in the past that growing up, his dad never said that he was proud of him. That was I believe, Jake's main impetus for getting into the wrestling business.

It’s funny cause Goldberg was way more watchable than shitty Bret Hart…I wanna watch a sloppy brawl not some choreographed dance with two fake wrestlers

I'd be lying if I said Bill didn't entertain me, but now that all this stuff has come out about him having been a danger to work with, I can't believe he got into the hall of fame. I mean, he was famous, so I guess he "deserves" it on that level, but it just doesn't feel okay being that he ended Bret's career and nearly did the same to taker.

Concussions are scary. I sustained atleast 3 from playing football in highschool. The main thing that i remember is the instant ringing in my ears and the light of any kind become blinding. I prided myself on playing every play my team needed me so I never got checked out after any of them. In retrospect knowing what we know now about the seriousness of CTE and what it can lead too, I wish I had gone to the hospital. Tension headaches, short term memory loss and an inability to focus on tasks at hand are just some of the adverse side effects I have to this day over 20 years later.

Bret Is The Greatest Imo. Flair is up there too for entertainment. But for pure Pro Wrestling, Mix and technique, natural ability, skill, entertaining matches, imo btet is the best ever.

I’m glad he’s living his best life and making money. Athletes get concussions. It sucks. I’m no expert and certainly I’m not Bret. That said a wrestler retiring months, and hardcore matches after a kick. Doesn’t exactly scream the kick was the culprit. Being “the best there ever was” for a wrestler with 0 charisma in a promotion that is pushing characters over talent, would be a better reason to retire, in my opinion. It is unfortunate that his concussion didn’t get him over like the screw job, and the stroke finished it.

When Jake said after he achieved his goal of proving his Dad wrong, it ultimately didn’t even matter. That really resonates with me. As sons especially, we just wanted our Dad to say good job, I’m proud of you. Unfortunately trying to force it or trying to prove them wrong doesn’t replace the void or give the satisfaction of the real thing.

I saw a video detailing how Bret got 5 concussions in 6 months. One of them he gave to himself. He blames Goldberg for the concussion that ended his career but he ignores the other 4 that year.

Living with post concussion syndrome is hell. It’s been six years for me 😢
