Liz Phair - What Makes You Happy (Rejected Mix)
I found this version, which is labeled the rejected mix from the original whitechocolatespaceegg that Liz Phair rerecorded most of so her record label would release it. Whether this is the original mix or a demo, it's hard to tell because of the quality, which is the best I could find. I figured other fans would enjoy, so please do! The differences are pretty striking and I personally prefer the chorus in this version.

you know, i've always liked the chorus of this song, but i think her voice sounds awful in the verse and outro. i've extended it anyway because people were asking for it and i'm very happy with this version. the song is catchy and i'll defo be playing it constantly now, i think.

Well this one was probably the easiest to do. I love the song, but it's a little dull so other than repeating the verse/chorus to fill it out, there wasn't anything to add. It's nice a pretty though and totally relaxing. Hope you guys enjoy.

I really can't wait for the full version of this song, so I mixed and extended it for myself and thought I would share in case anyone wants to dance around to the lovely chorus. This is the first time I've done anything like this and I know it's not perfect, but I enjoy it better than hitting replay on a 45 second clip over and over.

I feel like the lead guitar&bass are turned down too much here, and also in the album in general, but for this song I think the heavy guitars in the verses(?), like at 2:10, and the basslines throughout the entire song, are more much important for the song in comparison to the volume they get. I can't even tell what would count as the chorus or the verses in this song, I like the structure choices here!
I love the song but actually prefer the Freaky Friday cover because the lead vocals to me are way better on the cover. But great song.
That's interesting, because Christina Vidal (singer of the cover version) said the director forced her to sing the vocals in a nasal staccato way which she thought was horrible (from a 2023 metropolitan article). I'm actually hoping that the version where she sang the vocals the way she wanted comes out at some point, I think she's a great singer!
If "Better Than You" couldn't have been the band's 3rd single, I think this would have also been a better choice than "Don't Ever Make My Mind Up", it's just so much catchier to me. I like how after each "to the end", the following part is always different (1:11, 2:21, 3:19).
0:38 What's going on with the vocals here? It sounds like there's blips where the pitch of her voice suddenly changes.. is that an effect or is she really singing in this way?
What does Belinda sing in the chorus? Is it "I caged my soul for all we are"? It sounds like an "o" sound at the end which makes me doubt this, but it doesn't sound like "know" either.

The least listened to song from the album, but definitely in my top 5. The way Micaela sings this song gives it a different feeling from the rest of the album that fits very well with the acoustic/electric guitars in the song. I especially love the vocal section beginning at 2:43. Even the way it ends with that mysterious-sounding short keyboard (?) lick and the echoing bass is so interesting to me.
I love Micaela's vocals at the end of this song. It seems like she layered her own vocals and Belinda is singing a little bit in there too, this band's vocal harmonies are really cool.

finally found the original!!!!! idunno why but this is really hard to find, i could only find the christian cover for the longest time, i started thinking i was remembering it wrong and it was in fact the original but i just didn't sound right. i had to ask my mum who made it. she hasn't heard of freaky Friday but i remember her playing this in the car as a child.. any happy to see the original version does in fact exist online :)

It wasn't hidden in Australia. Being covered in a Disney movie is a very ironic way for a good song to be heard, unfortunately credit is very rarely ever given to the original artist, this song has been covered by a lot of people on youtube and Lash is basically never mentioned. The actual clip to this song is on youtube as well btw.
