When I lived in my apartment in North Canton, Ohio, there was a Walgreen's right down the road. The _only_ reason I ever stepped foot in that store was to buy Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream, which was sold only at Walgreen's stores. Sometime in 2021/2022, they stopped carrying that type of ice cream, and I suddenly had no reason whatsoever to go into the store.

I found an Ebisu Life that opened in Maryland when looking up that Teso Life store that isn’t opened yet. Ebisu has a similar concept, so I’m going to check it out tomorrow. Thanks.

Buldak ramen is actually Korean! I personally prefer the Buldak ramen that comes in the package over the cup one. As someone else said, the pink packaging carbonara one is really good (mostly because that one is the least spicy one and my stomach can actually handle it lol) but if you really like spicy, the one that comes in the black packaging is supposed to be the spiciest.

I worked for Walgreens from around 2005-2012. It used to be a decent job, lots of opportunities to grow a career and become a Store Manager. After the 2008 recession everything changed, they took away the good benefits, all of the decent paying assistant manager jobs and even found ways to cut back on pharmacy staff. Im glad I left when I did, I seriously don't know how they're still in business. It's awful.

If the mecha models are fairly priced then I'll hope for one to crop up near me.

This store looks great. In southern California we're not hurting for japanese stores (Tokyo Central/Marukai, Daiso, Nijiya, Book Off, and more) but this one certainly has some stuff I haven't seen. Those Pantasy brick sets I haven't seen. Also, different countries do stuff even like Coca Cola differently. I think japan does a mix of real sugar and corn syrup. Mexico does only real sugar. US does only corn syrup. So they do taste slightly different, especially in their after-taste.

I can literally buy two of the same product at Walmart or Amazon for half the price of one at Walgreens… …Our Walgreens doesn’t deliver despite always receiving notifications about Walgreens delivery. Pharmacies first became popular decades ago because they had a model that made it feel personal. They had lunch counters that sold fountain drinks, snacks and hotdogs or sandwiches. They didn’t want to rush customers out the door. The sterile look is uninviting and cold… …It’s going to be another good place that was overtaken by corporate types that will be paid off and divided among shareholders and some other pharmacy brand will take over the building once they’re out of business 🤷‍♂️

The reason you drain the noodles is because it's Korean style. Koreans typically eat instant noodles as a pasta dish and not a soup like Japanese Ramen.

I love that UCC Coffee with milk 😂 every time I go to Daiso I look for it.

Those LED doors should just have a running coast for how much money they are wasting. I still go to Walgreens but there are only a couple of products that they have that I feel are good deals. If I were to find a better alternative for my tastes then yeah I would likely stop going to walgreens.

It seems more like a general Asian groceries (minus the fresh foods) with heavy Japanese non-food merchandise. The website and the store sign is actually in Chinese. Seems like that the Oregon location will be in East Portland, which is good since the West side already has Uwajimaya. I'll check it out once it opens, since it seems to be a good Daiso alternative, and Daiso alternative that might carry some stuff that Uwajimaya doesn't. It'll l be a bit further away to me compared to Uwajimyaya, but it beat Daiso which I have to drive to Washington for, and usually doesn't warrant a trip just for Daiso.

TESO just opened several months ago in my state, it’s really cool, I love the sticker machine they got, it’s similar to the Pokémon snap machine, I wish they got video arcades or Japanese vending machines, I’m not a fan of gambling machines.

This type of shop is extremely popular in China! They sell everything from food to clothing to toys/DIY and makeup with a lot of character inspired goods. Miniso is probably the most well-known one. Three Coins and The Green Party are two other major chains in China but there's not much info on those in english. There were at least 3-4 other stores with the same type of retail concept in one mall (and all were full). The Rolife Kits, Legos and toys were all displayed in the same way.

Was just at this location the other week. They have a great selection of stuff that compares to some other lesser known places like kinokuniya USA bookstore locations.

The claw machines they have, do seem to by easier (well at least the one where I usually go). I notice the claw actually grips onto the plushie.

more of a mix of chinese, korean and japanese items, or us manufactured stuff under license - some very suspicious infringements on intellectual property from certain asian countries and prices 2x to 3x or more than street prices in tokyo, but thats average for any japanese items in the USA. considering a bag of kitkats at donki hote or daiso in japan is maybe $2.50 compared to 8 bucks or a can of boss coffee like 65cents compared to 2 or 3 bucks, yeah, japanese stuff is way expensive here.

Oh man, if I had one of those near me I'd be stocking up on that BOSS Coffee. I miss it so much from when I visited Japan!

My husband and I ordered 2 of those Rokr marble sets. They were a lot of fun to assemble, and they actually do work.

I love the concept of Teso Life and Daiso. People don't know how easy they have it today with these stores popping up without having to endure the smell of fish and every other scent of an Asian market and watching your mom clog up the aisle as badly as she clogs up the road while going 2 miles an hour in a 45 zone.

Sadly there's no Florida location yet, and if they do in the future, I expect it to be on the southern half.

Screens on doors to say what's in a freezer instead of just the normal window so I can see what's inside of it. Talk about over engineering!

Before I get to the part when you try the "Sea Salt" flavored soda... considering that a big thing in Kingdom Hearts was Sea Salt ice cream... I strongly suspect that "Sea Salt" is a flavor profile like "Bubblegum" or "Blue Raspberry" here in the US... Just this past weekend I was reminded that a common flavor found in Sno Cones is "Tiger's Blood"... and that is a "tropical punch" kinda flavor with coconut mixed in... So I am intrigued.

So sad. I lived at 46th St. and Sharon just a few blocks north of this mall. I went to Village Vista Elementary school also just a little north west of the mall. I remember when they open this mall and the Phoenix public library. Amazing something so popular could go out of business..
