DIRE DIRE DOCKS (Extended Remix), originally from: Super Mario 64, composed by Koji Kondo. At first when i finished and listened to the initial iteration of this track, i thought it was good. But, it was only after adding several Chorus Layers, some backup layers (i.e. Triangle for the bassline and a square for melody support) and an entire Soundsphere, when this song came to a life of its own ...

I had an immediate urge to do something original. This time i also included 1 Namco N163 channel for some more customizable Triangle-Sound to accompany the usual Triangle. It's something upbeat with some warm touch.

How can you not be smiling? It's one of my favourites from Koji Kondo. I did an extended Famitracker Remix, and in doing so i had to adjust a lot whilst also adding some flourishes of my own.

This is an original composition of mine i spent two days with. This has to be one of the, if not the longest track i made so far. I got inspired by my later workings on Stickerbush Symphony, i learned a lot and had an idea i had to work out. It would make a good fit on a chillwave playlist.

Replaying the song with different speeds is interesting as it feels like different parts of a boss fight or different times you meet a character in their narrative arc.
yea you're right this kind of melody would lend itself well for some kind of leitmotif in varying speeds, dynamics and contexts. thanks for feedback

There's something really enjoyable about the way it bounces between moods, from playful, to tense, back to easy-going in that energetic way but not letting go entirely of the tension, then just reminding you to enjoy the moment. It's fun to listen to~ ^^

I had to search for it and check it out here on CZcams, due to me not knowing that game and the OST. There are indeed some similarities, in style of music and chords used in the instrumentation.

Songs that add a bunch of chips together like this makes me wonder how much the Famicom cartridge would have cost.
that's an interesting question; it's hard to find ANY info about the actual costs of said expansion chips. However in general it is hard to include a multitude of chips on a cart anyway due to conflicting accesses to certain memory addresses for example (considering most of the chips did not only expand the audio capabilities, but rom mappers along with bank switching capabilities, etc pp). They were not designed to be on the same cart. It's a bummer though, i would love an actual NES orchestra cartridge.

There's something always magical about 8-bit covers of Daft Punk songs, though this one's got me absorbed in it. I'm not sure how many times I've looped it but I get the feeling I'm gonna be looping it a whole bunch for a while. Thanks for the cool tunes~

For a minute, I thought this was the NES sound chip but it's got 2 triangle waves and they aren't stepped.
@@musicgardener2142 I see that now. I knew that I could hear the higher harmonics produced by the steps and it was throwing what I thought I knew about waveforms/sounds into question. I've been sort of obsessed with the stepped triangle wave since playing with it in Warioware DIY(it's the yoshi egg "boon-boon" sample). It produces ferocious sound when multiple stepped triangle waves make harmony under the effect of overdrive.
