To be honest, I'm interested in getting the Fairphone 5. I repaired the Fairphone 3 of a coworker of mine but the specs were kinda bad for the price. Now the specs are way better and the best thing is that it finally gets everything that I need to have in a phone. I don't play games on Smartphones so it's SoC is perfect and I can backup everything to my PC and on my remote NAS in my home country without keeping the phone connected to the PC. I can just pull out the MicroSD card and keep using the phone which I love on my travel phone, a Samsung S20 Ultra. But unlike my S20 Ultra, I would use it as my daily phone and I wouldn't have to heat up the back cover for 2min with my hair dryer in order to open it and replace the battery. Can't wait till my contract expires next month at my cellular provider and I can get my hands on this phone which they seem to provide. The funniest thing is that they offer their repair plan on this phone too which allows you to replace the battery and broken display for a low price but unlike the Galaxy S22 I got, this seems to be useless for the Fairphone because the parts are user replaceable with replacement guides on this channel 😂

After seeing the Video about the "struggles" to produce a perfect, fair and repairable phone I have a big "heart" for Fairphone! The made a very good job, really like the concept, so happy to have a product on the market like this! I bought two Fairphones 5, for me and my dad, bouth our old phones are over 6 years old now, and not working very good anymore, very exciting to get the Fairphone 5 in some days!

"Fun" fact: I smashed my screen to bits - as you do - on a Saturday around lunch. Ordered the parts, and got them by lunch the next Monday! More fun fact: For a broken Fan my "next workday on site" warranty of my Dell laptop needed two weeks! Since they require a tech to change out the part. -.- Another fun fact. If you fix the screen beside a FrameWork Laptop that you got after being fed up with Dell Support you can use it's strong magnets near the track pad as a screw holder. Just maybe don't close the Lid :)

can someone explain why it's a big deal to turn off your phone in order to take off the battery so you have access to the SD card? you should turn off your phone once in a while anyway to clear temp logs and whatnot. and i also assume that the phone starts up in less than a minute, so what's the big deal here exactly?

I'll certainly be getting fairbuds as my next earbuds. For the fairphone I'm still on edge due to not knowing how far software got and the hardware basically being last gen. While hardware is becoming less relevant due to tech advancements, I still don't know how far fairphone got on the software side

Honestly Im a big fan of your company, but you need to consider that your competition is apple and samsung with its flagships, you are priced quite good, but I think you should have 2 models, one cheap 300 euro one and another one 600-1000 euro powerhouse. I love that your phone is how it should be, you can change battery in few seconds, you can carry second battery if you want, but I would like to have it in different looking package. Phones are accessories some people want them as utilitarian as possible and some like to hold premium feeling piece of hardware like iphone. p.s. please give us audio jack

it is better and improvement from Fairphone 4 for sure, but the price is high comparing to other competitors that provide same features :/ as a user, we prefer well known manufacture rather than fresh company. unless there are special features. not underestimating the sustainability and easy part replacement. If you want it add wireless charging. I would recommend doing it in your next model by having contacts on the motherboard exposed and making contact with the plastic back that has the coil built into it. This could also allow you to sell accessory backs that could have stuff like Qi 2.

worked like a charm! I'm what you would call a "two-left-handed-guy" and really not good with any kind of work that need a steady hand. But even I could replace the USB-C port and loudspeaker without any issues and my phone still works - that was my biggest fear that I might break something... but no, it is really easy! Thanks for this video, this really helped

Fairphone 5 still 'my favorite. All of the phone is getting better and better. I own the Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 5. The display is color accurate especially with Photo editing. No issues. Speakers are clear and great. Handeling and weight is a nice duarable weight. The cameras are great, if you use lightroom or other software editor than the camera's deliver great photos like high end smartphone. Great detail no oversharpening at all. It is a solid phone value for monkey. Especially with /e/os Murena the degoogled phone what I love. Very private and no ads... Buy Fairphone! 👍😍😘🥰🤗

I think the battery test is always a weird thing to test. Not because it is not important, but because it is subject to large variances. For instance, I used both an S22 and an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Over the course of a 12 hour work day, the iPhone would almost always be at a lower battery percentage at the end of the day. I don't know if it is because iOS burns much more energy when just streaming audio, but that was how mine worked.

Good phone but only removabled battery for me is a no and the simcards shouldn't be placed inside the phone...it should be by the side or top or below... You should have small bezels and uniformity...
