Can Janes son claim he is of a religion that uses Mushrooms, and as the international human rights convention, says you cannot exclude anyone from any religion based on nationality or race, then he would be spiritually excluded from prosecution, incarceration and persecution? This would give him exemption based on his own religious beliefs, even if he starts his own religion with his mum, which cannot be prohibited.

Wonderful to hear such intelligent concerns. I always felt that entheogenes were for people with healthy minds, but now on the contrary. Hopefully this leads into a legal stream of research and discovery. I often wonder about experimenting with age care, homeless, juvenile offenders, yes!! I’d go as far as a ´coming of age ritual’ in completion of high school. I’ve experienced 95% positive outcomes in personal, social and in experimental therapeutic healing retreats. Music, dancing, hugging, colour, 🌈meditation. A wish for more time to hold community and family pre and post integration with an even broader range of therapies available. Let’s develop ourselves where we look forward to fun in our old age, or for that matter, on the weekends and special occasions. I for one, have a list of names of very normal people who are quite happy to commit now in to eventually going into a ´holistic age retreat’, rather than a depressing ‘aged care home’ What’s to lose? fear ? All the experienced underground therapists and psychonaughts have a vital roll to share. I would suggest if not already, a visionary platform such as a Fb page or online seminars, where everyone agrees to respect and feel free to share their ideas with no barriers or backlash on their comments or careers. Healthy open discussions. How else to get started? Joining together to flourish the expansion of this wonderful opportunity for a mentally satisfied society with safe practices in place and hopefully some most suitable ‘ music playlists.🤞´ If we embrase different protocols and styles to suit all tastes and needs, aim to be perfect, and accept that there will be those occasional unsatisfactory outcomes as with any medicine. Let’s move ahead in a solid unified position at any given moment. Remember the German wall came down in a day.

Thanks very much for holding and posting this discussion. While I have been eagerly waiting this decision to treat CPTSD and treatment resistant depression, I also have concerns how this is going to be rolled out and who is going to provide appropriate training to the treatment professionals. Most psychiatrists work within a medical model and don’t deliver therapy, so I guess it is going to be a lot of hard work with lots of teething problems before we can really measure efficacy. The concern I have, is the patients (those with treatment resistant depression etc), are very vulnerable. I know myself, I have had so many bad experiences in the therapeutic environment without the addition of these medicines. Bad experiences in this context have the potential to do more damage than good, leaving the patent feeling helpless and hopeless. I guess it is going to be a lot of hard work nutting out models of care etc to ensure patients not left in a more vulnerable position. Lots of hard work ahead, but hopefully this will also weed out some of the cowboys currently using these substances without good models of care or even appropriate qualifications. I am eager, but I really hope we ‘get it right’ without doing more damage - both in models of treatment and outcomes for patients and for the overall public perception of the use of these substances as medicine. Lots of potential to ‘get it wrong’.

Great conversation! Very much appreciated the point about psychedelic-assisted therapy being done in a multi-disciplinary context. As well as social workers, mental health occupational therapists have an important perspective/role to play here as well. Thanks APS for facilitating and to all involved for their time.

  • @emmacurtis-smith4492

Psilocybin has already been desceduled for therapeutic use in a number of states in the US. Legislation is being finalised now and there will soon be psychedelic assisted therapy centres opening in the state of Oregon. I think much can be learned from this roll-out. Their legalisation is attempting to ensure availability and accessibility for all who need treatment. I am also concerned that the approval in Australia did not follow the usual channels and loathe to think the reason is solely monetary rather than for the good of the Australian people. It has to be available for all who need it, not just the super rich.

Yeah $20,000 for synthetics sounds like a setup for a foreign corporation to make money from nature. if the individual isnt paying, the public is still paying. so a win win for them. It sounds like an obvious setup but that scam wont last long. the wave is happening.

Yes, I have to wonder if Mrs Rinehart and Mr Forest investments in associated ventures helped get the legislation 'over the line'. I think that it is a good thing that the Australian government are pursuing psychedelics as a treatment option (though this legislation) but as you say, I hope these treatments are available and accessible to everybody, not just those with deep pockets.

53:13. careful what we wish for. instead of therapy in nature, the cowboy corporate vultures will be patenting nature. They already have the formula for mdma and should be generics. Should be free and accessible to all. Should be made locally. Psy synthetics is not new has been used over the years and means it's controlled dosage, but no reason not to use natural.
