Finland wasn't really a Swedish colony, just the Eastern part of Sweden. UNTIL that is Russia sized the area called Finland as part of the Great Northern War. Alaska is now part of the United States and Finland was once part of Sweden. You wouldn't call Alaska a colony.
Interesting. My impression has been that Turku was a Swedish city in the same way that Helsinki was built up as a Russian city after having only been a Swedish outpost beforehand. Modern Finland has its own distinctive national identity that is not tied directly to Sweden, so it feels more like Ireland’s relationship to Britain. That’s what I meant by that, so it comes down to a poor choice of a word.

Did you take the buffet on the Tallink ferry when I had to go on the ferries in the Baltic the buffet option was often the best value. Though when I did it regularly Tallink and Silja hadn't merged.
Yes, it was still good value and a solid smorgasbord.

LOL You gotta read the book to find out the realities of getting home from said Salt Mine haha. I am so glad you captured footage and made a video out of this one because I've been telling people about the Salt Mine amusement park since reading the book and having video to show is excellent.
