Exploring airBaltic's MRO in Riga
zhlédnutí 883Před dnem
Airways visited airBaltic's MRO hangar at Riga International Airport (RIX) to learn more about the airline's A220 maintenance and upcoming plans in this area. airBaltic’s Vice President of Base Maintenance Vjačeslavs Konstantinovs provided a firsthand overview of C2-Check maintenance in BT's largest hangar. The facility houses three lines dedicated to heavy maintenance tasks, with nearly 150 wo...

Did history repeat of SQ006
Very low landing
This is one company I wished I could have flown for in my career. At least I’ve got one of their red Harbor Air patches on my flight bag.
Breath taking
Where were you ?
Yeah I saw that plane it was amazing
Hope you guys at Boeing get this right no mistakes on the 777x
Turboprops have a much lower operating cost. Pass on the savings to the passenger and everyone wins.
Is that Benjamin Smith ?
correct!
A Car Is A Lightning💀
is that Windows 7 ?
I flew to South Africa on one in 1996 from Holland, and it was the most comfortable flight ever.
787?
Riyatama
A330?
Bring back the ELECTRA!!!
Window view doesnt matter Safety matters
Hopefully the aircraft wont be like the max
hahaha so funny never make a joke again nga
Turbo prop engine maintenance is much more expensive than jet engines. Any A&P mechanic knows this.
That is NOT an operating system.
🪟, not 💻
"Thats a very big engine"
The simple fact is that props are just noisy, and have a bumpy ride. Fuel economy doesn't really matter because I can get there twice as fast, and therefore have double the flights. In the end everybody wins... Airline can increase the number of passengers, and people get more flights per day with a smoother ride.
The plane is nice so long as she doesn’t fall apart. The Hawaiian Airline colors make it beautiful…
Great in-depth video of what an MRO does! Respect to Air Baltic for being a leader for the A220!
Lemme guess, As turboprop market dominated by Canadian and french companies (not US), the "champion of free market " hypocritically using predatory policies to stop selling those aircrafts in the soil.
I love turboprops, the Dash 8 especially.
I want to mention that from 1:00 past it sounds like a turboprop engine is in the background of the music! Very cool video!
they are still around and not going anywhere in GA
The real answer is that the TSA made short distance airline service absurdly inconvenient, killing the market segment. Combine that with an increasing number of bass ackward FAA regulations (several mandated by congress so it isn't completely on the bureaucracy) which have been slowly destroying the small end of the industry for decades with zero rational or data backed safety benefits. Basically turboprops no longer have an advantage when the shortest flights are dissapearing and the maintenance costs are lower for jets. The pilot situation (Mainly caused by congress/FAA) is also driving out the smallest planes, which is only going to make things worse in the long run because the move away from small airframes further reduces the pool of experienced pilots for the large mainline fleet.
Bottom line profitability is why turboprops are gone in America for passenger service.
The crash of American Eagle flight 4184, involving an ATR-72-212 (which was the deadliest for the series), started the negative animosity towards turboprops in America.
I flew on some United Express turboprops previously, and I personally didn't mind it. I was surprised that they're all gone now.
This is the first airplane trip video which goes to San Antonio that I have seen. I'll look forward to more videos in San Antonio. It's a nice enough city and they are always working to make it better. So thanks for sharing and have a really nice day.
Excellent presentation!
Flew in Bae ATP on UK domestic flights a few times and loved them..
Because Dash 8's are cramped and noisy.
I hope they're not ditching any airplanes. Use a regular air strip .
Frustrating 6 minutes. Too much rapid blather. Mostly irrelevant model listings. Focus on “how smart” narrator is? Five minutes (almost the end) into video before benefits of turboprops even revealed. A quick table or graphic would have sufficed.
One major volcanic eruption and all those jets will be grounded... Propeller planes handle dust much better then Jet engined planes..
I love the hums of the Bombardier Q400 engines. They often lull me to sleep. There's not a bad seat on the plane, either.
Funny you mentioned this. My wife cannot sleep on a commercial jet, but when she flys in our Cessna single engine piston airplane, she falls asleep even when she asks to fly the scenic route. I find it soothing as well, thankfully, never fallen asleep behind the yoke. I love the Dash 8 and Q400 too. They give the feeling of flight.
@colinfitzgerald4332 then stay tuned for a special Dash 8 video 👀
Bon vol turbo prop, but let's face it small cramped noisy and not really very fast. For marginal routes sure, but on mainline hops, yuk.
The reported public perception of turboprops is misleading. Yes, public prefers quieter jets over props but with quiet technology, this gap is narrowing and passengers generally do not care nor know what plane they are getting on. It is mostly the greater distances between cities in the USA that airlines want more trips per day. A jet could make an additional 2 trips per day which increases the revenue to pay for staff and the plane. The cost of the fuel is only a portion of the total cost for the airline.
Because they are stupid‼️😂
The plane in the thumbnail 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Turboprops should take the piston engine market due to greater reliability from simpler design. But, turbine makers aren't that keen to sell cheaper turbines.
Doesn’t horizon air still fly some dash 8s
Fly on them too much and you will suffer hearing loss
I like turboprops but I don't like sitting next to the propellers.
Thanks for Sharing and also for the Report in the Airwaysmag issue of March!i enjoy it😊
We're glad you enjoyed both! We hope to report again soon from flydubai.
