- 240 g warm milk (105- 110°F) ≈ 1 cup
- 60 g Port Wine ≈ 1/3 cup
- 15 g salt ≈ 4 teaspoons
- 70 g pine nuts ≈ 1/2 cup
- 70 g pecan nuts cut into pieces ≈ 1/2 cup

    Love the video and the dish looks delish. My friend is from the Azores and when the family comes down they make this dish but instead of a Tomato base they use Lemon, Butter, Garlic, White Wine, clam juice, and Saffron. Not sure if it's a regional thing or not.

    Piece of advice for cooking Alheira without it bursting and with literally very little work. Simply cut the string that holds it together first as it can stop it from expanding later on. Place it on a pan on low heat and put the lid on - you dont need to add any fat whatsoever. Adding fat is a matter of personal preference but depending on the Alheira, it will release its own fat during the cooking so you really dont need to add any fat whatsoever really. Just remember, too much heat and it will burst and too little and it will not cook properly on the inside. Happy cooking

      Hi, I do not think hiking poles are necessary. But I think it’s a matter of preference for most people I did the hike in November, the weather was very favorable about 70°F we just carried water and snacks in our backpack. I highly recommend bringing mosquito repellent and bringing a light pair of hiking pants and long sleeve shirt in case mosquitoes are present.

      I agree in retrospect. I probably made this recipe a little more complicated than it needed to be. Especially with the amount of folding. The proofing time is very dependent on the temperature of your ingredients and the temperature of the room you are proofing the bread. Lately I have done very large 25 pound bags of flour recipes for a Portuguese festival and I just need the bread and the large mixer with no folding.       I generally use whatever kind of rice I have at the house. But here is some information (from Google Gemini AI )about the Rice traditionally used in Portugal: Arroz de marisco, the Portuguese seafood rice dish, traditionally uses Carolina rice.     Your interpretation on this dish looks good, but from the Portuguese videos I see here on youtube, noted the following differences. This rice dish is soupy, lots of broth. Otherwise it's like a paella. Seafood goes in at end after you have built up the flavors of the other ingredients. Rice even goes in before the seafood. As seafood does not take long to cook, I can see why those other recipes all add them at the end. But hey, this is another timely option.

    On Terceira I never once saw them let the bulls loose and running. They were always tethered to a long rope and somewhat controlled by a group of locals. Still a fun time.
