Stock can be a double or single flower. The one you thought might be bolting is just a single. Totally normal. Just not as full or pretty as the doubles

You need to be more gentle with your stems. Also why are you using a colander to it blooms on. Should be going directly into a bucket of fresh cold water.

Stock is one and done. They will not branch.

I always open the hole and put like three long tree branches in the hole and repeat when they dig to the surface again, the branches prevent the gopher from going to surface and they have to keep reorganzing their path to the surface instead of eating.

I had one many years ago and I have a small yard so it made alot of damage. An old mexican gardner told me to pee in the holes and it would leave. They think a predator is in its home and leaves. I did it and it worked. Never came back.

I ran into the same problems as you when I first starting to grow grass. Ranking by importance, (1) Rake your lawn to remove all dead grass to expose the soil, (2) Pre-germinate the grass seeds, (3) Mow the lawn down to half an inch thick, (4) Mix the Pre-germinated seeds with fertilizer like Miloganite, (4) Even spread it over your lawn, (5) Water your lawn for 15 minutes every 6 hours. In days you will see new grass growing.

so helpful. i started small soil blocks this season and tried smaller trays but i like the use of the food containers! im still trying to get a hang of placing similar sprouting plants together. learning curve for sure.

I sprouted my tubers in a ziplock with moist soil & it worked amazing. You can hang them wherever. I saw that it was the latest sprouting idea trending in a dahlia group.

Would love to know how you get on with transplanting the zinnias, I was going to start mine indoors but saw some videos saying they are better sown direct, may try both and see!!
