Those that abandon the nets DON'T KNOW just how BAD this is for their karma, and NOT just their OWN, but their children and family because you're KILLING fishes NON STOP 24x7. THINK about what you're doing. You've left something extremely dangerous for the wildlife under the ocean that KILLS life NON STOP for the REST OF YOUR LIFE and well after you're DEAD. EVERYTIME a fish or wildlife DIES because of your net "someone" is taking a note and let me tell you how Karma works. There comes a time in your life or family member when an emergency occurs and you feel "trapped" and "can't get out" no matter what you do (kinda like how the fish feels thanks to your net). Eventually, you will keel over. That's how Karma works. HOW DO YOU UNDO IT? Go clean up that NET _NOW._ Not a moment too soon. And if you can't find it, GO CLEAN UP OTHER NETS to make up for it. From scale of 1 to 10, KILLING (for fun or no reason) is ranked as the worst kind of karma and it accumulates fast.

Too little, too late, by the Mexican government and their navy. This current effort should have been done five or more years ago. Illegal gill net fishing obviously still exists as evidenced by another Vaquita population decline of possibly 50% and maybe more. Do you know how many females are left? It’s probably hard to tell, except for the yearling swimming with his or her mother. That mother may be the only female left. If there are only two or three females left, and the rest are males, the survival of the species may not happen, just based on genetics and inbreeding alone. The fact that no newborn calves were born, is extremely alarming and a very bad sign. I would like to know what they do to fishermen who fish with illegal gill nets in the zero tolerance Vaquita zone. I don’t think the penalties are severe enough and they just continue to break the law. I think they should ban all types of fishing in the Vaquita protected range. That way, you’re sure to keep the gill nets out. If Vaquitas swim outside ZTA, then they need to double or triple the size of the ZTA. More effort needs to be done to confiscate gill nets and fine fishermen at the ports. Let those guys go fish someplace else.
