Bailing Hay With Steffen 1550 Accumulator
This was the first successful cutting and bailing with the Steffen 1550 15 bale accumulator. We had to set it up and make some adjustments. Overall it went pretty well.

That grapple looks like a pain to use

It takes some getting use to but once you do its pretty easy.

I'll say. Too much equipment to break , just to bring in square bales. Personally, the old fashioned pickem' up and putem' on the trailer is best.

That would be fine if you had extra hands to do it and under about 1000 to bring in at a time. But with little assistance this works better for us.

Does it tie the bundles? Or is that not even needed?

I was 13 the last summer we had our dairy farm and yet I wasn’t strong enough to stack bales on the wagon over 2-3 high. Family thought that I was faking it,,, but no I wasn’t. Anything to avoid hand stacking bales on a wagon or in a barn and breathing that awful dust is a great advancement for farming.

Thanks for posting this. I've been sitting trying to decide what accumulator will work best in my operation. Appreciate the video!

What did you rake with?horrible job.

The hay was rowed and left overnight if memory serves properly. After all this is a 3 year old video. so the wind attributes to some of that, plus see that little black thing running around the field? She has a friend and they like to go out and spread the rows out some while chasing field mice. Or just like to roll in it. Plus nothing is flat about this field, with a rollabar rake sometimes you miss nooks and low spots. Have to weigh the time spent going around the field again vs getting hay up before weather comes in.

@@arthurdewith7608 yeah a 10 bale kuhns is 13,000.00. Ridiculous for nothing but tubing and wheels.

@@markheintz1878 This thing was a bit more than that, especially after shipping from across the country. But yeah the Kuhn is expensive for not much and I have used one, the steffen works better once you get it dialed in. Kuhn might work ok on flat land but we dont have that around here, plus I dont like having the bales rocked around so much like the Kuhn does, lift it way up then slide down. It gets rough on the bales.
