This is a well maintained tradition in Kiribati which is known as te Kaunibutika. It's a tradition, don’t include ‘island culture’ because every country in the pacific have their own cultural traditions and this isn't viewed as inappropriate to them because they grew up with these traditions and like any other culture, the traditions are to be kept and nurtured through generations and generations to come.
