It's embarrassing that a museum of this quality lets this kind of misinformation out. Georgia O'Keeffe and Adams adored each other and had a very warm relationship. I don't base this on some obscure message as your speaker does. I base this on the fact that I was told this directly from one of Ansel Adam's last assistants who sat on ansel's couch with Georgia O'Keeffe and went through all the photographs of her that were taken by Adams. I expect better information from the speaker and the Cincinnati museum.

So often it seems the Old West is either overly romanticized or flatly characterized as a time of darkness and horror. I appreciate that Remington here has taken a realist approach, seeking to represent a snapshot in the life of our western ancestors truthfully, without any artificiality. I’m certain that the relationships between the people of this time and place were complex, and paintings like this one make me feel curious to know more about what their everyday lives were like.

as an artist I'm a big fan of AC Odyssey and AC Origins, I actually started to play Origins because of pyramid construction theories like the famous one of J-P Houdin (they actually incorporated some ideas of these into the game). Of course often scales are just not right or many details but it works as a game..eg in Odyssey, at Samos, the famous Heraion is great, huge, there you actually get a good glimpse of the monumental size of its real proportions. Today at the Heraion there is only ONE giant 10m column standing, and it is only HALF the original height, amazing. No wonder this is the blueprint for one of the seven wonders of the World ( temple of Artemis in Ephesos)...but again, all the islands are much to small (of course it must be walkable/playable)

Hey Helen and CAM, Another fine and very well illustrated post from you folks in Cincinnati! I only started collecting ukiyo-e and related Japanese art in the last twenty years, but seriously, no regrets! I believe that the very earliest editions of this print included a small bank of grey clouds in the upper right corner, somewhat resembling a fish, lizard or some such creature with mouth slightly open. I’ve seen other editions with this cloud bank, but most of the prints illustrated in the reference materials lack this little grey cloud altogether. However, both of my “Nihonbashi” prints contain this cloud, although in the later one, it has either been carved down, or else the original block has been replaced. Most nominal “early” prints of this Nihonbashi Sunrise lack the upper right cloud altogether, though both of mine DO, albeit with some subtle slight differences… My first and favorite has this little cloud bank and all the bases touched excellently with the added mystery of NO “Corner Crenellations! A few years back on EBay I witnessed a copy of this print that was exactly identical to mine, but which HAD the ubiquitous corner crenellations… I believe that mine may be a “first state, artist’s proof,” but that’s all I can conjecture… Curious as to any thoughts CAM might have on this little mystery of these missing “quarter moon” corners… Thank you! - Namaste, Glenn Jones
