Modern Chinese | Cookbook Launch Party by Sam Low
I am so excited to announce my debut cookbook! Been over a year in the making and it’s finally here.
Featuring 70+ easy everyday recipes, Modern Chinese aims to demystify Chinese cooking with a collection of accessible, easy recipes that can be cooked with ingredients from the supermarket (even the western one!). In this book I pay homage to my multicultural roots while adding a new narrative to what it means to cook Chinese food today with guides to help you to build your own Chinese pantry at home.
Having grown up in a diasporic Chinese household, I’ve created recipes with a unique take on nostalgic traditional classics including personal stories, collaborations with other artists, poets and makers.
This month I celebrated the launch of my cookbook ‘Modern Chinese’, and this is how I did it with my closest and dearest, contributors and collaborators, friends and media.

Yo! My mum used to buy me chilli oil off some random dude on Facebook and it was the greatest chili oil I ever tasted. I literally put it on everything. Ever since I've been trying to find a chili oil recipe that comes close to how good that stuff was.Today I was craving it so bad and decided to have another search for a chili oil that might come close. This was the very first result on CZcams and it's the closest thing I've come across so far. That plus the kiwi accent make me genuinely think you might be the person she was buying the original chili oil from?! Did you used to sell this on Lazy Suzan's?!
