We miss the Disco 4!
Nice to see Discos in OZ eating up that country. Could never understand Aussies disdain for Land Rovers especially for heavy towing caravans instead of dual cab utes.
cheers Jack. There's a lot of "unreliability" stories that get repeated ad nauseam about Land Rover D3/D4 in Australia. Of course they're not without issues but I don't believe significantly less reliable than equivalent 4WD offerings.
Where can I purchase the front grill lights?
The closest to what I’ve got in the current Hard Korr range is this one I think: hardkorr.com/au/product/lifestyle-7-led-driving-lights-pair-w-harness/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAolO1tcS-Cc0IjVefXjiD7W2StGVb&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsPONt6XJhwMVxPpMAh2sTg4lEAAYASAAEgJS7fD_BwE
❤looks mega well done buddy a great disco!
Cheers, thanks a lot
Does your Disco 4 have rear locker? I just got a Disco 4 myself and really loving it!
@@adv_addict no rear e-diff, just standard on mine
@@sienaoverland mine doesn't have rear locker either. Glad to see how capable the car is even without locker!
Dicen que dan muchos problemas, prefiero el Mitsubishi Montero.
What tires are you running?
see video description but these days I'm running Maxxis Razr AT811 in 265/60/R18
Im 4 years late to the party here, but where was this filmed, I want to take my 2015 SDV6 up there, (its like 4x4ing in your favourite arm chair)

@sienaoverland cheers mate, I will add it to my list, appreciate the response
Do you still have it how many miles on it and how was the reliability
I sure do, recently clocked up 202,000km and closing in on 10 years
Do you still have it how many miles on it and how was the reliability
Great, has been 25 jears I have been in australia but wow what a great place for a D4!
It was I think the best way to see the desert
Sure
Awesome LR4
Thanks!
Music is terrible
Awesome, do you still drive the same lr4, how many miles did you put on it
Sure do. Up to 198,000km as of Jan ‘24
hi what is your wheel name? I want buy that😮
Details in description of video
hi. What is your wheel name?? How call?
Details in description of video. I’ve since upgraded to Tuffant Kimberleys
Nice rig question are you still running the original brakes with the 18 inch rims ?
yep, Tuffant 18" wheels fit over the factory brakes
Hi Scott I am enjoying your videos very much and I so much want to purchase one here in NZ. But I hear of many horrendous stories anout them. In fact just past a Discovery 4 on a transporter break down truck today. But I watch your video's and see the Disco doing amazing things and in relative comforts. Can you advise on any major issues you have had with them over the time you have owned. Not worried about maintaining issues but engine and transmission failures are obviously a worry. Cheers Ian
thanks Ian. I've been through the cracked inlet manifold experience with both now replaced. But everything else has just been typical wearing out such as lower control arm bushes. I did have the alternator replaced proactively last year as they tend to last less than 10 years.
@@sienaoverland Thanks for the reply Scott. So no oil pump issues and broken crankshaft etc. Good to hear. Do you still have your Disco and how many kms years old now?
At around 196k and will be 10 years later this year
What wheels and tires are you running...?
Details in description. But these days I'm running Tuffant Kimberley LT and Maxxis Razr AT811
Great car!
so true
like to meet you one day Scott, before I kark it thanks for this great vid Stuart
Hey what mods have you done to it ? I’ve just got a disco 4 and want to build it up similar to this
Check out one of my other videos. I go through all the mods and stuff czcams.com/video/mXBUU7j3dVo/video.htmlsi=I6a-4LkJ0H-Zl3r_
you get around Scott, sound from snorkel just like mine
I don't really do much of this type of driving these days. Mainly outback touring now.
I own and drive an 2012 LR4 and I absolutely love it; however I tend to drive a bit slower (mechanical sympathy) through rough stuff so that it will get me back home. Enjoyed seeing your LR4 Discovery 4 in Narna Bronze like mine! I really enjoyed seeing someone else at using their Landrover for what it was designed for!
cheers Frank. I agree that it's best to drive technical stuff as slow as practical. But lack of traction on very loose surfaces sometimes requires a bit more momentum especially when it's very steep, otherwise you just can't clear the section.
Not stating the tyre size is a dick move.
Вот это внедорожник, сразу видно надёжная машина!
Does this Discovery have a rear locker?
No, just the standard setup
Sweet rig sir! I will follow along on Instagram also
Cheers Kyle
It was the Water Crossing for me♥️
Always something cool about a water crossing
This is a great car. And you guys show her fantastic combination of comfort and off-road. Thank you
Thanks for the feedback and you're right it's a great car
Thanks for posting this because now i know that i NEED a LR4 lol. Looks like some great memories were made and love that color on yours.
Thanks very much and yes of course you need one!
re-visit, just bought a 2015 sdv6 Black Edition, with town swish 20,s, 125 000 km no sand , bush or offroad, so picked up 5x18rims will fit Cooper A/T3 LT DISCOVERERs, you swayed my decision as I had a set of 19s too
Yeah I'm very happy to have gone to 18's. So much better for tyre selection, as well as extra sidewall.
Why are you driving it so fast, crawl is more mechanical sympathetic!
Do you ever have issues with sand/dirt build up in the intake box, I recently started taking my D4 up to northern Arizona and have a camp off grid up there and since I've done there it seems like I can't keep the dust out. I would love any tips brother!
I've never had more than a very light film of dust to the bottom of the intake box even when the filter itself was quite dusty. Perhaps your filter is not seating in to the box properly or the box halves are not seating back to each other properly?
@@sienaoverland I actually found out that there was an issue with my throttle bottle (guy did a horrible job doing an oil change for me where he took it off and he didn't fasten it back on, then I replaced the PCV on it and the light went off for check engine and I haven't had a problem since. I am going to be taking it up north again here soon so I am hoping everything is perfect upon return.
Did the French Line, then not a track, in1969 in a Rangy Classic 2 door with 44gal petrol on he roof. With the Victorian Range Rover club. I didn't know the roof was held on with self tappers. It took a few days.
what a dream car is!!!
Scott nice video.any idea of the cost of the built to your spec? would be keen and curious to find out thanks :)
No idea really. Developed over many years, project by project. Tried to be cost effective and what I thought good value but not cheap that’s for sure
About to start my journey💪
Good luck
nice video :)
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Is there a vid for the fronts?
Unfortunately not but mainly because it’s very similar anyway. Perhaps slightly less room to access the top bolts but fundamentally the same process
WE just had our start leaking... curious as to what price they run where you are?
I actually can’t remember now. I bought from Advanced Factors in the UK
can anyone tell me which mud flaps the beige lr4 has on?
They are old school Defender ones on the rear and Discovery 1 on the front.
Why he didn't immediately reversed, instead of keep trying forward ?
Just didn’t think to do that in the heat of the moment
do you use a leveling kit or any "suspension hacks" such as Johnson's Rods? or is the suspension stock?
Suspension is stock but I have a Llams unit installed. This allows more control over height when you need it and is much more convenient than rods llams.com.au/
Muito bacana o vídeo!
thanks very much
I want a LR4 😢
Funny, these cars are made for city ladies, not for the real off-road driving as you can see ... also, most of the D4 engines will be KO after 150k km, both TDVs and SDVs ... If you have money to buy D4, buy any other car instead. Definitely do not buy and Land Rover with 100k + kms on it ...
I loved how powerful the 2.7 tdi was . Instant power on tap as soon as you put down the accelerator. I wish it had a 4.0 TDI inline 6 engine.
custom roof rack?
No it’s just a Rhinorack Pioneer Platform
