If you’re a young single professional man, this is a terrible city. There is NO GIRLS. I repeat NO GIRLS. If you’re from Orange County or even south SD county, you will come to Oceanside and be like “wtf is this place? “. All the girls are in carlsbad and south of that. Everyone in Oceanside is either retired and old, military, or a poor minority (no offense). I went to Fashion valley and saw more attractive women in one hour than I’ve seen in Oceanside all week. If you’re an attractive young single man, stay away from this place. Especially if you’re relatively sober because the bars fuel this place. The beach is disgusting compared to Orange County. Oceanside is the farthest thing from a college town, despite having a community college. Everyone here is inexperienced with life and , depending on who you are as man, a liability. Professional men between the ages of 23-40 may be better off in a city like Carmel Valley/ Solana Beach/ Irvine/ Laguna

Not to mention, there is no girls in Oceanside.

Honestly idc if it’s expensive,I’ looked at it before I moved from Louisiana ratherStruggle and live near a beach than move back to Louisiana

Things have changed since I last lived there 25 yrs ago; some good, some not so good. It was still an interesting place to be nonetheless. I was there from 1986 to 1998 with a few months here-n-there when I came back to the east coast where I am now.

This was very brutally honest. If you can afford to live here it doesn't have a bad side except driving on Coast Highway or Pacific Street on the weekends due to the ignorant realignment of Coast Hwy (Hill Street) south of Oceanside Boulevard and because of the bike riders on Pacific. I think the "Sounds of Freedom" are microquakes as far as the ground is concerned. A couple of times they made the house bounce (over a 25 year period, however), so when the "big one" comes scientists might have a lot to study. Makes me wonder the percentage of cracked slabs. I know when I sold 2 years ago I had a cracked slab. The nightlife isn't bad and if I had a time machine could definitely get laid like the 80's. You don't have the play or theater but Carlsbad wildlife is full of Cougars, especially if Gone Blonde is playing🤣🤣

Always wanted to live here it’s a dream. You make it realistic and reality is unless I can make over 120k it’s just not practical

Moved to Oceanside 10 years ago and thoroughly regret it, been trying to find a way out since, I feel trapped. Way too conservative and boring, no nightlife, no culture, no nothing. I leave for everything except grocery shopping.

I moved to Oceanside in 1991 when all my friends said don’t….back then it was the higher than average crime rate. Now, all my friends say how cool it is. If you want to live coastal city in Southern California, Oceanside is still the best deal. If coming from Orange County, the price of homes are significantly lower than Orange County

Born and raised here and although the cost of living is high, everywhere else in Southern Cal by a beach is going to be as well. My biggest complaint would be our streets and parks. Other than that, I love it here. 3 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath Condo between 500k - 600k but worth it to me. Single family home can run between 750k on the low end to 900k on the high end

I moved to Oceanside when I was 2-3ish from San Clemente and moved away in 2021, to WA state at 35, so I lived there essentially my whole life. I am SOOO glad to have moved away. Oceanside has turned into a tourist trap full of tweakers. Drive down Oceanside Blvd past El Camino Real at any given time, or west of the 5 at any point and it’s like driving through an episode of The Walking Dead. I lived on Oceanside Blvd and had to call the cops many times on tweakers screaming in the streets in the middle of the night. Avoid Oceanside if you can! It’s southern California, so it’s automatically overcrowded and expensive, but you’re definitely not getting your money’s worth.

Reason #6 - My sister lives there and she's a TOTAL BITCH. 😒 Avoid her at all costs.

I’m a fan overall but Fire 🔥 Mountain ⛰️ seems like the only part of Oceanside that isn’t completely overrun with homeless. Try calling OPD about bums and they often give you attitude

your kidding right? when i lived there for 10 years back in the late 90's i paid $750.00 a month for a new condo about 2 miles from the coast. could see the ocean. Now retired i was going to come visit and see how the town has changed. Houses were about $180.000 to $250.000.
