That's a lot of distortion yet crisp and chunky with a little bit of flange. I wish i still had my original Peavey EVH 5150 combo amp. You could get close to that tone with it and a flanger. I've got the new Iconic series. It's good but not as good.

I've heard this song all my life and never realized there's some sort of light chorus effect going on with his tone. Crazy! Not the Phase 90 during the solo, but during the rhythms. Wonder if that was done during the mix or if he had something going on in front of the amp. And those punch-ins in the solo! Fair Warning remains my favorite VH record. So mean...no pun intended.

The only thing that drives me nuts about this tune is the outro solo fades too early. The few lines Eddie played at the end, which are turned up here, deserved volume on the album.

Challengers would get across the moat , climb the closed draw bridge , looking for the KING , but it was always something . He was either not in the castle , or they did find him and the challenger had practiced hard and was on Eddie level of talent but it always went for Maurice ! If they worked their asses off to get to say eddies level when they began , only t try o find out Eddie was on level 22 , but while they trained to go from level 12 to level 22 , th red y found out the hardway theat Eddie never stayed still ! By the time they got to level 22 , Eddie had been wo r king his but off and now was at level 35. That happened more than we know
