Hi Andrew. I generally have about 18inch. It helps with protection against rocks etc. most waters I fish are quite shallow but rocky and braid doesn’t generally do well for abrasion resistance m.

Decent route from seathwaite it had a bit of everything. The last parts I filmed which were the on the rocky slopes etc you don’t need to do that part and actually instead the route up to scafell pike is then gravel track. Give it a go mate you can do an easy route from Wassdale which is only 5m in total. The seathwaite route is better in my opinion though and as I say you do need to do the dodgy parts.

Yeah mate really great day for it. If you fancy it pal there’s an easier route from Wasdale but I’d recommend just getting out for some walks and getting some walking and elevation fitness. Average fitness is all you need then pick a clear day to enjoy the views. Can even take the rod with you as some routes have little lakes and rivers! 👍

Cheers Anthony. Yeah we did notice that, it was Facebook paradise up there. Trainers and shirts everywhere. Also noted that it looked a tiny bit easier to do the pike from Wass side. It was only 5 mile there and back and a gravel track all way. Anyway really glad we chose this route as we actually all feel like we did actually conquer a couple of proper peaks. Superb weather made it even better we really did get lucky on our first time.

Scafell Pike from Wasdale is about 21/2hrs up and down,you lads did a proper job. I only live about 10 miles from Wasdale,descent trout fishing in wastwater no pike to speak of.

Yeah guessed that’s about what it would take. You live in a beautiful place matey especially when that sun is shining! I need to spend more time fishing up there I’ve not done that much to be honest. May bring the kayak up at some point I just need to get myself some free time sorted.

ha ha like me mate calamity after calamity sometimes. Might have to get myself some seal skins for the winter. I'm getting a bit older so i guess i need to keep the cold out. Though it helps staying dry in the first place!

hey matey, cheers for watching. Yeah we did back in the day. We used anything we could get our hands on. For me, i didn't know much better as i never read the mags and certainly was no internet. But i caught some fish and enjoed my fishing. These days we have all the gear and no idea!

Hi Paul quick question if I may looking for quality bait caster for my heavy pike set up have 300 tranx on my 20-80 jerkbait rod and Bft on my 40-130 which never been fan of

Yeah buddy they are. I love how young pikes markings differ from older pike and also how clear water pike look. Their markings usually stand out much more.

Ah matey of course it is, they all live near me and we fish the same waters. If you think those boys catch some fish you should have seen what we used to catch round here 15 years ago before CZcams was born. I don’t mean that to sound big headed or anything by the way buddy. But before the lure boom we had some crazy fishing. My early days of CZcams I never showed these places but the other CZcamsrs didn’t hold back so much.

Hi matey. It’s a 7-21g rod with. 2500 size reel. 18lb braid with a 20lb titanium trace. It’s a bit of light fun so I’m kind of set up for maybe some perch and of course a few jack pike

@@riverpiker can’t beat catching pike on the light gear. I have a dam yagi rod and pike on that are a quality fight even the smaller ones.

Hi buddy. This one was the LMAB La Moustique 7-21g rod with Daiwa Caldia 2500, 18lb braid and but can’t remember which brand I used mate. It’s probably been on a few years 🤣. Reel is ok for a cheaper reel but after 2-3 years abuse I need a new one as it’s limping through. Rod is nice enough mate they are probably a bit above low budget price but also look quite nice, think they are around £80 or so.

Matey they literally have been the worst I can remember. I feel your pain. Pretty much in constant flood. I own a 12ft aluminium boat and I haven’t been out on it all winter at all until a couple of days ago. Planned to get out again today and we have over 2m gone in again over night and it’s a wash out so I’m at home with my feet up. Luckily that one session though I landed a big one!! Fingers crossed for you that you get out before the season ends matey good luck if you do!
