    I have had one of these for decades. you cannot replace the bulb. It was factory made but it runs so dim that it will never burn out. It only comes on when the button is pressed. the meter should move. A red pencil mark on the meter is target for turning bar in base for factory calibration, If you can get the needle to move when button pushed you are doing great. To get battery out hold the sleeve around it (with the bulb on the end) an give it some good shakes. Otherwise drill small hole and pull it out with a screw. I think that instructions are on ebay sometimes.. They are great 3 ranges, 2 warm or cool filters and those scales convert anything to anything I used to use mine as an enlarging meter by measuring the dimmest and brightest places on enlarging easel . Its been decades. They were distributed in the USA by Zoomar who used to be a big name in cinematography. Mine was always glitchy. Good luck. They were very expensive new..

  • @michaelh1690
    @michaelh1690 Před 9 měsíci

    This is the way... only thing is I usually make all my cuts except the last cut to the stock plant 2-3 days ahead of time if I am doing alot of grafts, then the last cut to the top is made the day of grafting leaving the cut piece in place until I have multiple scions prepared, then the top piece of the stock is removed and the scion firmly attached preferably with cut strips of stocking. This man is a legend, he even has Frogwood!

    For someone doing a video explaining each function of each different control button / knob, he didn’t sound to confident knowing what each control did. Even with some of the every day / every radio no brainer controls. “Comp” means “Compression” on every radio Iv ever seen. “Moni” is pretty obvious that function will “monitor” your TX signal audio. Not ever radio has this option, but its pretty common since what monitor does. Over all its a nice video. I was expecting more along the lines of a good detailed explanation of what each control function does. Oh and by the way… the IC-761 does 40 watts on AM, not 25 watts.

    • @kq6up
      @kq6up Před 11 měsíci

      This is an explanation for my dad as he is an elderly ham. It was off the cuff and not really intended as a polished video, but just as a sort of visual quick reminder of all the functions. I am 99% a CW op, so those are the only functions that are relevant to me. I have to think about the SSB stuff for a minute or two.

    Im new to this and just learning and im honestly curious at what is the reason or point to grafting on to a rootstock with no roots?

    • @kq6up
      @kq6up Před 11 měsíci

      Because they are easy to give away as it generally takes no time for the rootstock to take root once planted.

    • @stevenwayne2606
      @stevenwayne2606 Před 11 měsíci

      @@kq6up It can take up to two months to grow roots and isn't the point of grafting to get pups and speed up growth. Doesn't it take a rootstock with a good root system to push growth, a good root system can take months to a year to develop.

    • @kq6up
      @kq6up Před 11 měsíci

      @@stevenwayne2606 this is at a meetup. Unrooted rootstock is plentiful and portable. Rooted -- not so much. If I do it at home and it is a valuable scion, I put it on the biggest baddest PC in my yard because it will become gigantic in a years time. Again, these are giveaway's at a meetup.

    • @stevenwayne2606
      @stevenwayne2606 Před 11 měsíci

      @@kq6up Where was this at again? Ok, so this is just for demonstration and not practical.

    • @kq6up
      @kq6up Před 11 měsíci

      @@stevenwayne2606 this was in LA. Not just done at meetups, but maybe done for shipping too. Easier than cleaning soil off of a rooted cut for shipping. When you have been doing this a long time, you will have more patience and not worry about whether or not a plant has roots. As they all root eventually.

    I love grafting! I recently did my first two grafts. I cut two lopho pups off of a cluster and did the Vladimir the Impaler technique on a couple pereskia’s. They took really well. They’re actually pushing pups already and it’s only been about 2 weeks maybe. I love my cactus collection. I enjoy learning new knowledge on the subject.
