Hi everyone, in this video we re-visit Evening Hill (again) in sub zero temperatures to try and catch anything. It is the end of the Flounder season so that's what we are ideally hoping to catch. The wind was pretty much non existent when we got there and the water was extremely flat and calm. My money is on a conger eel.
A quick question about fishing off the piers in the summer (I believe there are 2- the pleasure pier and the stone pier). Could I get away with my coarse fishing rod and 6-8lb line or is there a chance I might stumble across something much bigger and end up getting the line and even rod snapped? The line I can handle, the rod not so much. ;-)
6-8lb line is ideal for the mackerel and garfish in the summer.ive just come back from there using similar gear.but using light line means you will have to buy a drop net to bring the larger fish up the side of the pier

Nice rod. I’ve got a pair of Colmic Zero Seven F1 4.6 metre. I still haven’t used them because of 2 shoulder injuries 🙄
Only found your video today ! 7 months to late . If you want fish from Poole quay .... drop your baits straight down by the Quay! On the sunseeker side you have you use a rotten bottom rig as it's so snaggy ! Fish a paternoster rig with size 10 carp hooks with 10mm off ragworm and bounce it by the pylons or quay face ! You will get wrasse or gobies! Then live bait them ! On sunseeker side you have to use a float , on pub side you can ledger the live bait but you have to hold your rod ! Lure fishing at poole quay is all about the old lifting bridge ! And fishing at night for the big bass .. a sinking lure that is fished just below where the lights on the bridge don't penatrate . Hokies also work to get live baits ( always tiped with tiny peice off rag ) like you said it runs so quick by the quay ! And so much weed at times .. when it is running hard ,fish inside fisherman's dock but always fish to the quay like your fushing the margins on a lake . Hope you still going there ? And if not and you try again this may help .. tight lines

The problem with bassing is there's so many small ones that really rattle the rod tip!

Great fish! Good lesson! Always slacken the drag when bassing...... They can have you're rod in the water in seconds. Or hold the rod.....I never hold rhe rod..... but stand right next to it. 😝😝😝
