High mileage BMW M2 (190.000Km) with JRZ suspension, first Nürburgring visit of 2024.
My manual BMW M2 (N55) has driven 190.000Km in my possession. Last winter the car received some upgrades (JRZ suspension) in combination with a lot of refreshed parts (wheel bearings, many different rubbers, other suspension parts, etc). The car drives great on the street (daily driver) and feels better then new. It was time to test the new set up and see how the car drives on Nürburgring. For a street car; it was awesome!

I see zero reason why you want the car any louder and would pay the extra cash for the M performance exhaust that delivers nothing extra besides some more noise (that the car does not need).

    You should do a walk around video of the car and mods, and what issues you’ve had with the car over the 190km. I’ve had my car from new and is on 55k miles, totally stock apart from a few suspension mods. Love the fact that you have refrained from messing with the engine and just concentrated on further improving the handling. 👊🏼

      @@SuperExige The mods are listed in the video description and it are a small list of mods. I guess there is not a lot more to tell about the few modifications. The issues outside warranty were luckily rather minimal. At 150.000 Km I had a small oil leak in the valve cover from a worn out gasket. This was replaced with a new gasket. When the valve cover was removed, that area was also walnut blasted to make the valves and all clean again. At one point (130.000 Km) the original plastic charge pipe broke (they all have it at one point) and was replaced with a metal charge pipe from FTP. The issues I had, that were fixed under BMW warranty was a longer list; new manual gearbox (+ new clutch), small leak in the cooling system (nothing serious), new bottom seating part of the driver seat (leather was pealing off prematurely), recall (leak) of rear diff, new part of the exhaust (the flap at the rear that controls the noise was broken).

      @@Franzino yeah I saw the list of upgrades in the video description. Thanks for taking the time out to document all the niggles you’ve had during your ownership. New gearbox and clutch is a big one!! I’ve had the rear light clusters replaced under warranty and the amplifier, and the idler pulley. Other than that it’s been extremely reliable. How do you find the JRZ for daily driving and what made you go for these over KW/Bilstein or any of the other coilovers?

    The recording equipment it seems, also has high mileage, as sound was only recorded to one channel lol. Nice lap and great car though.

      Indeed...now that you mention it...the right sound channel is a bit off. Need to check the mic and the Go Pro; both are the same age as the car ;)

    Great clip and I loved the view. In the beginning I was amazed at the amount of speed these folks carried until I realized I was playing the clip at 1.5 times the normal speed. Nonetheless, it is always great to see a couple of Zs on track.

    Wie schlägt sich das Öhlins? Schleift es auf der NOS? Wie ist sonst so deine Erfahrung mit dem Öhlins? Ich habe aktuell das KW V3 verbaut. Habe noch nie so ein schlechtes Fahrwerk in nem Auto gehabt 🙄 Viel zu weich, selbst bei zügig gefahrener Landstraße schleift es (eingestellt 345 mm von Radmitte zur Kotflügelkante). Zudem verstellt sich alle paar Wochen die Höhe und ich kann den Mist wieder rauf drehen.

      I love the handling of the Öhlins suspension on street and Nürburgring. I use the Öhlins advised spring rate (Front 90N/mm & Rear 190N/mm). I have no experience with KW V3.

      Long time a go...but in this 2013 video the Z4M was still on stock Z4M suspension with Eibach Pro-Kit springs. The tyres were Michelin PSS and my brakes were a AP racing BBK (front and rear). I fitted the Bilstein PSS-10 suspension in 2014.

    The A110 doesn't handle like that. My guess is that's the A110S. Good stiff suspension in the corners and more precise steering.

      Wrong guess; it's not the faster, more track focused A110S in this video ;) It's our A110 Légende that I was driving. The set up of the car, you can see in the description. The dampers, anti roll bars, horsepower are all stock A110 Légende.

      On TF the lap finishes after the Audi sign...on TF the straight is not open so no point on keeping on the throttle. That is why the track lay out on Touristenfahrten is called Bridge to Gantry.

      @@HISPEEDLEVEL Scusa; Io non sono italiano. My nickname is Italian…because people often think I am ;) With the correct winter tyres you can certainly drive the Alpine in winter and in snow (we do this, because the Alpine is a daily driver). But with really heavy snow (like in Scandinavia) I think you will be better off with a 4WD instead of a 2WD car.

      Engine, exhaust is fully stock with zero engine modifications...only suspension and brakes have some changes.

    Smooth, clean driving. About the set-up: are those Life 110 springs stiffer than the original ones? Does the ride height remain the same, or has the car been lowered in the process? About the tyres: Are these Michelin PSS4 semi-slicks? What's the difference with A110 standard tyres( which are also Michelin Pilot-a different compound?) The reason I'm asking is this: I feel my A110( Pure) is too softly sprung & I am considering a suspension grade-up. Would appreciate your advice.

      The Life110 springs are slightly stiffer and a little lower then the original springs (they are not as stiff as the springs of the A110S). Michelin PS4 are not semi slicks at al. The PS4 are the standard A110 tyres on every A110. The semi slick tyres for the Alpine are the Cup 2 tyres; I don’t have these fitted. We have fitted the slightly wider PS4 tyres of the A110S (difference is little in grip) that fit the wider Fuchs wheels. My advice in your case would be to fit the Life110 springs in combination with the bespoke alignement. It makes a great car awesome, without losing any noticeable comfort.

      It’s an awesome and unique car. Money wise; I think it’s actually an achievable dreamcar. I am not saying it's cheap, but it’s also not out of this world expensive (my M2 is the same price and taxes on the Alpine are cheaper). Best tip; work hard and one day you could own one => if regulations still allow it :(

    Wow nice chase 🇧🇷, I am sure this BMW isn’t just stock, it probably has has nicer breaks and break pads, alignments ideal for track, suspension upgrades at least b16s coil over, Fixed bucket seats, semi slick tires, and what not, it is really good on the track…🇧🇷

      This M2 = Stock blue M2 brakes (different pads & brake oil), stock seats, stock interior (no rollcage), stock engine, stock exhaust, stock tyres (Michelin PS4S), Öhlins suspension (with a little more sporty alignment).

    That’s amazing driving. You passed all those cars which slowed you down and managed to pass the 911. There is no question you’re a better driver. The video footage is just amazing as it makes the viewer feel like they are in the car.

      Thanks :) In the Z4M I mostly placed the Go Pro in this position behind the front window. It also gives the impression that I'm sometimes really close up to the back of the Turbo S. Looking at the footage 8 years later, maybe I was pushing the Porsche driver a bit too much at the end (it's not a race, but only fun). If I see someone in my rear view mirror like myself behind me; I just let them pass...even if they were driving a Smart ;)

      @@Franzino yes, it did seem that way at times though it was obvious that the Turbo S driver was not being courteous and letting you pass. The Turbo S had much more power to speed up in the straightaways but he was not skilled enough to corner correctly by making those apex look like straightaways. The rear and mid engine Porsches make taking corners on tracks look like a walk in the park usually.

      For street <-> track purpose and easy adjusting of the damping the Öhlins R&T is really an awesome suspension. The standard M2 suspension was also nice but after + 90.000km it lost most of it working power (felt soft and to bouncy). The Öhlins in combination with a slightly different alignment made the car more fun, more accurate (steering) and overal more predictable/controlled when going through fast corners.

    Nice drive! The same N55M2 owner poroud of you ;-) But i have a question,at present, the nurburgring have more n55m2 or more s55m2? How about them laptime? thk

      I can not say if there are more N55 or S55 M2 Comp on Nürburgring. No idea to be honest. Concerning laptimes; they are both very close and it depends on the driver, the tyres and the conditions to have a real difference. But with everything the same on both cars; then the S55 M2 should have slightly faster laptime (on paper atleast).
