@2:53, while its in a knot, I soak the tails then re roll it while its still wet. This will get the tails a lot tighter and hold its form. After it's rolled, I'd tape it and let it dry. It takes a lot of time and practice.

I roll mine by myself, and it looks great. Just make sure you wash, dry, then iron/steam and have something to tie it on standby before you start.

In the actual fleet your dress blues are stuffed in a ball in your rack and you wear them once a year.

Maybe in the fleet now but remember many a day I manned the rail in my blues. I also remember some cold watches in Norfolk back in the day when I was standing watch as messenger to watch and I had to wear my dress blues

You do know the uniform was originally meant to fold up on the creases to be store. Older ships didn't have a place for you to hang them.

Mine is still double rolled from 1965
US Navy 1962-1984, I also double-rolled mine. CWO4 USN Ret.
Shirt stays? We call them shirt garders. Or something along those lines
I think garters are the actual name but stays is just commonly used

Ghost stars and stripes are when you iron the uniform folded over itself, leaving an imprint of a stripe or star on the opposite side of the uniform

It’s a damn shame the navy took the female dress uniform and are forcing them to wear male uniforms. One of the only traditions women had, taken away from them over night....

How do I put on shirt stays
Attaching to the thick cloth is a little shed but here’s how I did it: 1. Undo the little rubber and separate it from the meta loop. Pull down on the rubber part 2. Place the cloth of your shirt in between the rubber flap and the metal loop. See which orientation works best. 3. Push the thick bead shape of the rubber part through the metal loop and you’ll need to pull to get it in. It might take a while. 4. When you put them in your socks, it is considerably easier than the thicker cloth. It’s the same process as above, just don’t put them on backwards or it’ll scrape up on your leg. Seeing as this was posted a year ago, this is mostly for anybody else with the question. I hope this helps new people, and I hope you figured it out
Can I do this with one of those pre-rolled Vanguard Neckerchiefs from the Nex also?
