This would rank in the top 10 stupidest battles. However karansebes definitely takes number 1.

@@mythicalumut6174 At least Karansebes was a case of genuine panic and disorder getting the better of an army. This was sheer arrogance and stupidity on full display.

@@JimmySteller Honestly true, now that you say it like that it makes sense. But i still cant put it over karansebes, imagine losing disorder in a massive grand army just because some hungarians said “No, My alcohol” and a massive brawl resulting in the destruction of your army’s unity and order.

@@mythicalumut6174 I'd still say it's more reasonable than Hattin given the (A) drunkenness of some of the people involves, (B) the night-time leading to more confusion, and (C) the language barriers on display. All those factors make more sense to me than "Hey, let's go chase Saladin into the desert far away from water sources!"

But i just cant fathom how the austrian force broke apart and none of the soldiers said “hey shouldnt we go look for our superiors” instead the routed troops just went home and even the superiors made no attempt at regrouping. Also another thing, apparently there was no language barrier. I heard that almost every troop present spoke german. So if you look at it this started because some hungarians and romanians couldnt share some fucking beer. Id argue thats a little more stupid than “hey how about we march dozens of kilometers into a desert with no supplies and leave our most important city defenseless in the back”

because it wasn't really a battle. The crusaders were all dying of exhaustion, thirst and heat stroke lol. Getting finished off with arrows.

​@DmnhoryFMIt's not quite as impressive as multiple Islamic nations getting defeated by an outnumbered and brand new Israel. The Six Day War was potentially the greatest humiliation any group of nations have ever received in all of history. The sound defeat and clear rejection by God, with no excuses possible, is remarkable and unmatched by any other event.

This battle was much more impressive. The "islamic" nations you mention were socialist republics, dictatorships or hybrid-democracies. Not a caliphate. Not to mention Israel had the support of the USA and the entirety of europe, whilst the few countries that fought against israel were pretty much alone. So I would say the battle of Hattin was much more impressive in this regard.@@davidanderson6055

@@mianyousaf1093 I don't think so. Not sure, but the Scriptures indicate Israel will be there in the End of Days. God promised to gather even the unbelieving Jews from being scattered around the world and being then back to the land He promised Abraham. After the humiliating 6 day war, there was the Yom Kippur War, launched on a holy day, in a cowardly and blasphemous decision by another Islamic coalition, and once again they were soundly defeated, with thousands dying in the sand. The reestablishment of Israel was prophesied. The defeat of all those nations, multiple times, was a clear statement that God opposed those people. He intervened Himself. I would suggest revisiting your beliefs. I don't think Islam is the way, and life is short. I don't believe Judaism is either, but the Bible makes it clear that they're going to be there, and should be left alone, or helped, by the wise. But all that really matters is how you view Christ and if you've given your life to Him.

I actually explained to my wife (Catholic) that the golden cross was supposed to have part of the true cross that Jesus was crucified on and she was fuming that the Crusaders would just bring it into battle and risk losing it.

@@ahmadnaser8172 The High morale did have a great impact and could have turned the battle as the Heavy Cavalry Charge almost broke through the lines and straight to Saladin, Saladin however was simply built different.
