Hello, my name is Philippe Litzler. I'm the Principal Trumpet of the Zürich Tonhalle Orchestra since 2005 and a trumpet teacher at the Lucerne High School of Music. I began my career as Principal Trumpet in 1991 with the Orchestre national de France in Paris.
I was a student of Pierre Thibaud at the Conservatoire national de Musique de Paris from 1988 to 1991. Being one of his students was the best thing that could happen to me! He taught me to be curious, to be constantly in search of perfection. Hence my desire, today to share with you!
This channel is dedicated to the trumpet, its repertoire and all related topics, such as stress management, mental preparation before an orchestra audition or recital. You will find, I hope, everything you need to play your instrument even better! I wish you a lot of pleasure. Sincerely yours,

Verne Reynolds (1926-2011) - 48 Etudes for Trumpet - n°37
Verne Reynolds is famous for his technical proficiency, his many publications (including technically difficult etudes), and his inspiring teaching that has promoted technical development. His students play in orchestras around the world and teach in major universities, and his teaching has influenced professional horn playing as few others have.
Reynolds was born in 1926 in Lyons KS and moved when young to Lindsborg, where Bethany College made its faculty available to the townspeople. He began the study of piano at age eight with Arvid Wallin, who Reynolds considers to be his most influential teacher, and also sang in a church choir, directed by Wallin, through college. He started the horn at age 13 when the high school band director handed him an instrument and gave him private lessons.
Reynolds performed as a member of the Cincinnati Symphony (1947-50), in the American Woodwind Quintet, and as principal horn of the Rochester Philharmonic (1959-68). Reynolds was horn professor at the Eastman School of Music for 36 years (until 1995).
These Etudes follow the same plan as the 48 Eutdes for French Horn from wich they were transcribed.

The large number of comments focusing on the conductor pretty much sums things up: This was mostly about her. Best part: 17:40, when the bassoonist gets his breath.
An ok performance, but the audio is not quite in sync with video. My favorite is the Frankfort Radio Orchestra performance.

The composer is a little affectatious and disingenuous. I was longing for sincerity the whole performance. Close your eyes and listen, do not watch the video. It's disheartening.
Very pungent performance- hair-raisingly fast most of the time. I think the last bar is better as Stravinsky intended- ie with no ralentando. Tempo giusto!

C'est magnifique ! Quelle précision. En revanche, dans mon édition j'ai un Sol # à la mesure 25 (le dernier sol médium de la mesure). C'est à 1:00 dans l'enregistrement. En tous cas bravo, c'est vraiment très impressionnant.
