i just did exactly what you said in this video to act out a scene where ive just been told my child is going to die. i never had a child but i did have to rehome my puppy a month ago and it felt like losing a daughter. used that emotion and just played out the scene for a minute and i was able to express incredibly genuine emotion and body language. thank you for your solid advice and help

This movie is amazing like you said with no words in the beginning to the end when there's so many words sometimes it's hard to understand except for the end when he is making the prophet understand what he was doing with the straws and sucking the oil up, and at the same time proving that he's a fake prophet, so amazing so so amazing.. 🤘🇺🇲🤘🇺🇲🤘🇺🇲

What a load of complete and misleading BS. If 'truthful acting' (which is in itself a contradiction in terms, as any serious actor will try to be 'truthful' to a character they are portraying), is devoid of the requirement to learn the script, then how the [BEEP] can a portrayal be 'accurate' instead of an exercise in cheap ad lib and improvisation!? I suspect that the studio merely 'humoured' Brando because he was the biggest 'A list' actor available for the role, and if putting the script in front of him was one of his conditions / preferences, then of course they would do everything to pander to him. However, can you imagine what the studio's reaction would be if an actor portraying a minor role in the film wanted to do the same as Brando - he'd be out through the door without his feet so much as touching the ground! I would like to know why, if Brando's method was so fantastic then how come we, (the general public), never hear about any other top actors adopting the same methodology. Also, what is your definition of 'untruthful acting', because to my mind that would require an actor to deliberately mis-portray a character that they are 'playing'. I'm sorry, but I think your entire rationale behind the concept of 'truthful acting' is at best a 'word salad' invented to deflect from how lazy Brando was, in that the 'prima donna' couldn't even be bothered to learn any of his lines! P.S. What would Brando have done if he were portraying a modern historical character, whose words were known to all? E.g. Would he have the words of 'Winston Churchill's 'we will never surrender' speech sellotaped to someone's tea-shirt? Give us a break!

Another solid video! One of my absolute favorite pieces of film acting is John Malkovich in Death Of A Salesman (1985). Especially him and Dustin Hoffman at the end of it, the acting is so electric, immediate, and raw. You can hear in Malkovich's voice the way he speaks to his father, it's so captivating and vulnerable, you truly believe he is a son desperately trying to reach his hard-headed father. Just heartbreaking and powerful. That performance impacted me in a huge way and I watch that a few times every year.
