This video is about a male house sparrow attacking a smaller house wren. The house wren was trapped inside the nest box and beaten for couple of minutes until it was finally dragged outside the nest box. Looks like the house wren survived, there's no dead house wren near the nest box.

This is a wonderful video from the point of learning and sharing, but... Only human could cut a tree to build a bird house. Fact. Also, I don't think bird feels safe when you open the box.

I'm pretty sure one of these guys is responsible for filling my humming bird house full of sticks. They're just shoved in there all haphazardly with no best crevice at all.

House wrens are not native east of the Rocky Mountains. They’ve been transplanted here from the west coast. They are invasive demons with wings that wreak havoc on nesting migratory songbirds. They will attack and pick the eyes out of a nesting mother bluebird and puncture all her eggs. Do not feed or attract house wrens. Human intervention destroys nature, it takes human intervention to restore nature.

I will look into a nest box. Can you direct me to plans? Many of the trees around me have been removed, and it is impacting the squirrels and birds. I try to leave the acorns, and some leaves, every fall. My neighbor has landscapers do fall cleanup, with their blowers. Nothing is left behind.

I would love to put these around for our neighborhood squirells except my neighbor already hates me because the nuts I give to them get buried in his yard. Eeeek. Very kind of you to do this for them

Unfortunately these guys have taken over in the PNW, where they do not belong. They displace western gray squirrels, because they are so obnoxious 😊. Little effers dig up my garden, grrr.

I have two Black Squirrels in an oak tree In my backyard. That tree is hollow and it needs to come down so thanks for saying that they breed in June as well. The tree is going to have to come down this fall and I want to get a nice nest box for them so that they can continue their families. I have several walnut trees so they love it!

The little guys in my box started fledging about 20 minutes ago. Two have flown off - there is still at least one left who is still chirping for mom and dad to feed it, and they are complying, for now. It's like watching the kids go off to college.
The babies came down from the nest in the oak tree outside my house on June 2. Pandemonium as they chased each other around for four hours, then all went on their way. It happens that way every year. Last year one stopped to press its face up against the window to look at me. This year, one of the babies has a bright red tail.
I have a box full of house wrens myself, so all that chirping is familiar and kind of nice. Last year they fledged in mid June, so I suspect they'll do the same this year. Right now they're just chirping away like this. I have a squirrels nest in a nearby tree every year too - the squirrel babies came down on June 2 and it was pandemonium out there for a few hours as they chased each other around and ran up and down trees. June is bustin' out all over around here.
