Really interesting but, would have much prefer it without that music . Would have like to hear you telling us what and why you were doing things. Apart from that I thought it was really good 👍

You're a genius guy! and you don't need to drill through and the current with a milling cutter is just super and faster)

Nice, but I slowed the video way down and noticed the hole wasn't centered. Have you been able to correct that in future flute making, and if so, how did you do it?

Very fascinating. Even though I have no tools or shop, I couldn't quit watching. I remember using the lathe to make furniture when I took shop in highschool. There's a lot more to making that flute than shown in the video. Precise measurements and tuning, etc. Thanks for sharing your talent. 😇

Hello artist. I have subscribed to your beautiful channel now. Thanks for your videos. Can you send me the measurements of the flute and above all the distances of the 5 holes from the mouth and their diameter? Thank you. 🇮🇹Ciao artista. Mi sono iscritto ora al tuo bel canale. Grazie per i tuoi video. Puoi inviarmi le misure del flauto e soprattutto le distanze dei 5 fori dall’ imboccatura ed il loro diametro? Grazie.

  • @Tuttodunfiato.N.A.F

thanks for this beautiful video of yours. You could put the measurements, the internal and external diameter, and the distances of the 5 holes. What did you use to polish it? Thank you so much friend and artist. Signed up🙋🏽‍♂️🙏🏻❤️🇮🇹

awesome.... my thing right now is I felt I had to cut the excess wood off the ends, before turning, so I could wipe excess glue away inside the bore before it sets (with a dowel with a moist towel end). This then lends itself to a problem turning, because now I've got a 3/4" bore hole and little blow hole (still kinda big at 3/8+) exposed on the ends. So now I'm gluing blocks of wood back on before turning, lol. I'm afraid if I don't have a little glue spillover squeeze into the bore then I don't have enough glue in that mere 1/8" thickness between the O.D. and I.D. that is all that's holding much of the flute together. Maybe I will just gouge and sand off 100% dry glue polyps inside later instead, next time.

Can anybody enlighten me as to why the routed slot is not taken right to the end of each half before glueing? It would avoid the need to drill out the end. There must be a good reason I assume. Also, if the end must be retaine, perhaps the blank could be left a little longer and another routed slot put in the extra length. This would give a guide for a drill bit to align with the inside slot.

Jonathan, first of all, Thank You for bringing music into the lives of everyone viewing this video. It is worth pointing out that, while it is clear that some people here seem to just need to criticize, all they have to show for that effort are their uninspiring comments. You, on the other hand, you have a playable musical instrument to show! And you now have a legacy as a teacher. I learned a great deal from you today Jonathan and I am inspired to go into my shop today and try to create something of lasting value as well. I hope my work comes close to yours and that I will soon have an instrument, made by hand that may bring joy to our lives. Peace to you. It was an honor to watch you work.

to all the whiners about power tools....do you really think that if the founding fathers had a chainsaw they would have used axes to chop down the trees? If they had tractors would they have used mules? This is a great video and teaches a lot. I use power tools because I don't have the strength anymore to use hand tools very much. Awesome flute. thanks for sharing!

That splitting edge....What % of air goes downward and what goes upward. I would think there would be a range. For example....a splitting edge that divided the forward airflow in half would have a 50/50 relationship. A splitting edge 1/32" to 3/64" above the track floor would then have nearly nothing above the streamline. I'm thinking a 50/50 would sound like crap. MAYBE......the air isn't really splitting at all. I think it should be called "skipping". As is skipping a hole in space. Like a flat stone on the water. There is a low pressure side meeting a high pressures side. One to the other each in its own existence by its density. Higher pressures have greater densities. Jump into the water from ten feet above. That's what is happening here. So does gravity effect flute science? Can you play a flute on the moon? If a tree fell in the woods....If a bear shit in the woods after he ate blueberries still have blueberry juice on his face? I think the purpose is to prevent the air from splitting by directing it elsewhere. Look at it placement. It should be much lower to actually "split" the air. I think it's bouncing off and creating a disturbance. The disturbance oscillates a frequency and

I thought about this troll comment off and on since last night. For some reason it stuck in my head. Whether it's because the childish, crude class clown thought the jar looks like mayo, or he thinks he is so sophisticated he's have some special applicator or fancy container... I hope for Aaron's sake he or she is like 13 years old, otherwise the scope of adult existence is limited on account of his brain being the size of a stunted snow pea, for life. This is a substance that's probably a bear fat replacement, made out of some awesome stuff like beeswax and wood oil. I'm like JG; I'm not too much of a snowflake to get a little on my hands and have utmost control and feel for what I'm doing. But I gratify the trolls and anyone who likes his comment. This kind of crap is why awesome people like JG sometimes just skip showing us something, and more and more you see worthless click bait that offers detailed steps A-Z only to find it impossible without an $85 book. This guy may offer sales but the title does not allude to anything left out and I, for one, learned a crucial step.
