Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Moving Images Distribution's roots lie within the independent film and video community. During the 1970s, a group of talented filmmakers began developing ways to increase the profile of their work. Their vision resulted in the formation of Canadian Filmmakers Distribution West--an organization that became Moving Images Distribution in 1994 and launched its website and online catalogue in 1995.
Since our beginnings in 1979, we've worked to connect audiences with avant-garde works by some of Canada's internationally acclaimed media artists and with award-winning documentaries, animation, short fiction and personal narrative works.

Alex Janvier has long been recognized as one of Canada's greatest artistic treasures whose work helped change the face of Canadian art. He is an internationally renowned artist whose paintings are in great demand and have been exhibited in galleries and private collections around the world. For Janvier, a Dene Suline from the Cold Lake First Nations Reserve in Alberta, painting has always been a way to tell a story and his art reflects the incredible changes that have taken place to Indigenous people in Canada during his lifetime. It has been said that his paintings are not so much to be looked at as to be experienced for they reflect the lives of his people, their culture, their traditions, their hopes, and their fears. This inspiring film tells the story of a man who overcame tremendous obstacles and dedicated his life to fighting prejudice and racism against all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People through his art and through his actions. It is a story that will stir the emotions and imaginations of all those who love art and all those who stand up for what they believe.

Great film with good actors. I recommend this film.
Yes, all tragic stories… but how ignorant to portray this as an issue that victimizes only women by monolithic male monsters. Research paints a different picture, and women, who are less able to use physical force to subdue, often make use of drugs to achieve control. Please step back and see the truths of this situation. Many men suffer in silence while being blamed (stereotypically) for women’s victimization.

I picked up the Criterion Eclipse set of his documentaries on a whim almost ten years ago now, I was Canadian and I loved documentaries so I figured why not? I was not prepared for them to strike so deeply within my heart and soul, and all these years later, I can still confidently say that they are five of the best documentaries ever made. I think they should be required viewing for any film fan, especially A Married Couple and Dying At Grace. And how awesome is it that Come On Children features a teenage Alex Lifeson from Rush??
