This Oolong Tastes Like Green Tea And Oolong Had a Baby
zhlédnutí 155Před 2 měsíci
Taiwanese Baozhong is famous for being a lighter oxidation version of Taiwanese oolong, which somewhat reminds one of green tea. This new version of Japanese oolong is somewhat similar. It's a new experimental oolong from Japan. Although it's a bit more sensitive to heat compared to Taiwanese oolong, it has its own charm, and I think it deserves its own place in the complex world of tea. Give t...

It's rare that I found a roasted Taiwanese oolong I love!

The famous Shuixian oolong is rare even for Taiwanese tea lovers! As a huge fan of its Chinese version, I am super excited to have found this one! It's really not easy to find a roasted Taiwanese oolong that doesn't taste or smell like burnt tobacco or a cigar. This one hits the spot! I love how it gives you the warmth and relaxing feeling of roasted tea but still allows you to enjoy the sweetn...
How My Farmer Brews This Da Hong Pao Tea
zhlédnutí 224Před 3 měsíci
While I typically prefer a lighter infusion, using just 3-5g of tea in my gaiwan, the traditional farmers' method uses significantly more tea, yielding a much stronger and bolder brew. This approach is deliberate, ensuring that the full range of flavors and aromas. Da Hong Pao, or 'Big Red Robe', carries with it centuries of history from the Wuyi Mountains in China. According to legend, this te...
My Experience With Asatsuyu From Asamiya: Japan Oldest Tea Region
zhlédnutí 181Před 3 měsíci
Asatsuyu sencha is often referred to as "natural gyokuro" because of its rich flavor profile, which is similar to gyokuro, one of Japan's most prestigious teas. The Asatsuyu cultivar is highly regarded for its ability to produce a deep green color and a full-bodied taste even without the shading process that is typical for gyokuro. This makes it a unique and valued choice among tea enthusiasts....
How to brew this famous Taiwanese oolong

Many oolong enthusiasts end up disappointed with poorly roasted oolong that misses the mark on flavor. Our Shanlinxi oolong is roasted to perfection by a tea-roasting master. The result? A smooth, rich flavor that's "just-right" every single time.

What makes this Organic Houjicha special
zhlédnutí 105Před 4 měsíci
When it comes to organic teas, not all of them are created equal. Some sacrifice flavor and texture due to the quality of the organic fertilizer used. This houjicha is a cut above the rest. This tea garden is 100% organic, which sets us apart from other farms that compromise on flavors just to cater to organic tea lovers. Unlike your typical houjichas, ours is made from leaves picked during the...
Love sweet tea? Try this honey oolong from Taiwan for a delightful twist!
zhlédnutí 72Před 4 měsíci
Honey Red Oolong from Taiwan, also known as Mi Xiang Hong Oolong, is unique for its distinctive honey-like sweetness and aroma, making it a must-try for those who love sweet flavors. This characteristic sweetness is a result of natural interactions with the tea green leafhopper, which nibbles on the tea leaves, prompting the plant to release natural chemicals that create the signature honey-lik...

Hah thanks for noticing!
This tea is an award winner? But it is not organic?
organic means nothing
Unfortunately, it is not organic. But amazing teas like this normally use very little amount of pesticides. And yes! This tea won an award in Japan.
@@teaandwhisk If a food product is non organic, then it is sprayed with pesticide and herbicides, and therefore detrimental to human health, and should not be given any kind of award. This is a huge problem today, human health is not considered important by food and drink company's. Anything we eat or drink today, that has an award attached to it, should be done so regarding the products VERY high food standards, and non organic is not considered quality.
I don’t disagree. And we always try to look for more organic tea as much as we can. Unfortunately, plenty award winner tea that I know is not certified organic.
It's really good to hear your perspectives on this tea! The background music is a little loud and makes it tough to hear/understand you at times, and the video is mirrored (harder to read your shirt!). That color is intense--very impressive! I just found your channel and it's a really nice complement to my tea journey. Cheers!
Thank you for the feedback! I am still trying to improve my video editing skill. So i love all kind of feedbacks!
Sounds fantastic! Thank You for your work!
Thank you for watching!
i love watching your videos!! excited to see you vlog your japan trip 😊
Working on editing at the moment!
So if i it were from Uji, would it be Ujilong or Uji zhong (Uji+bao zhong)?? I’d be very interested in trying this out. Will you visit this farmer when you go to Japan?
I’m think it will be called Uji-Bao. Hopefully they don’t think of pork buns after. 😂
Two reactions: "why?" and "very cool!" I thought the same 😂❤ When someone says Oolong, my first thought is Taiwan, not Japan.
Even a Japanese tea seller told me that it makes no sense for him to sell Japanese oolong in Japan. 😅
Did I try that tea ?
Hmm I don’t think so. No one has tried this tea yet. 😁
Love your honesty Leo!! Find those great teas !
Always! I have to be honest to myself if I truly believe in quality products!
This is part of the fun (and frustration) of tea - experimenting with different brewing vessels and methods, temperatures, and water. As I watch this video, I’m looking at a 2-oz bag of this tea and I want to tear into it (but it’s a little late and I don’t want to be up because of the caffeine). When brewing for others (or for yourself) you can also pre-heat the fair pour cup and the tea cups so there’s not a sudden temperature change as you pour hot tea into cold teaware.
Well said! I now saving money to buy the whole batch of this black tea. It’s my tea saving account. 😋
Just out of curiosity, you say that your gaiwan is 100ml, is it to the brim or usable volume under the lid? For example I have 110ml one but it's when filled absolutely to the brim, and usable volume (to the point where lid meets water) only 75-80ml. I wanted to know it just for cases when I want to replicate your leaf-to-water ratio from different videos about teas those I didn't try yet.
Hi, you’re absolutely right! Usable volume is normally about 80-90ml. Thank you for asking.
Great video Leo!! How does this tea compare to the Dewdrop Bulang mountain sheng?
Hah, I hate to say it but dewdrop is a million times better! 😆
I love tea ❤
Genuine question: is bitternes a bad thing? I like my tea bitter but it has to be the 'good' bitterness - meaning I infuse it for the recommended 2-5 minutes or slightly more depending on the tea variety.
Bitterness is definitely not a bad thing! Some of the best tea is a bitter. In fact, all tea has a bit bitterness to it. That is part of the flavor of tea. But if a tea is so bitter, that you can’t taste anything else, even worst followed by acidity and overwhelming tannin - that’s not good. So you’re right there is a “good” bitter and “bad” bitter. In this video, I am talking about there the “bad” bitter. Thank you for your insight!
Thanks again for another great and informative video!
My pleasure! And thank you for the support to this channel!
Great video Leo!! I keep looking for your videos. Wish you did it more often. The way you explain the teas is awesome!!!
Thank you for your support! I am getting more and more consistent with the videos. Be patient with me, a lot more coming. 😁
yummy 😧😧
So good
Where do you buy it?
It’s available on our website: teaandwhisk.com/products/ez-gaiwan-with-cute-dragon
I ordered 4oz of This tea last week. I love it so much I ordered a full brick!! Thanks Leo!!
Thank you so much!! You helped me further confirm the quality!!
Loved your video Leo!! I just subscribed and also bought 4oz of this tea today from your store in Vegas. Love to see more raw puerh reviews that are sweet & fruity with lower astringency
Awesome! Thank you!
Where can I get this? O-O

I gotta train myself to be on her level tho😂
This just happened to me today. Off 2 tea bags. I had so much fun laughing my butt off!
Oolong is a great teacher. Many people just bring water to a boil, and brew any and all types of tea with that, yes? Oolong commands slightly cooler temperatures,it took me a while to be taught this. But,when I DID,the Black Dragon smiled in approval 😌
What a massive brick of tea. Also, Champagne is not a city, it's an area in France :')
Thanks for the correction! 😁
Mmmm hojicha. I'm looking forward to it in the package!
Sun Moon! My favorite! I am sad I missed this stream.
Do you own the tea and whisk website??
🤗 thank you! really love hearing your description of the flavors.
pretty good thandk
Very beautiful scenery I had to subscribe! I wish to visit Taiwan one day
Thanks for the sub! My goal is to bring tea lovers to Taiwan one day.
Just ordered this from the site, cant wait to get it!
Hopefully you enjoyed the tea you got from us. Thank you!!!
Your Royal Matcha always makes me smile and feel happy 😊
There is a new upgraded version! It’s even better than before. It’s only for limited time though.
Don’t know why it never occurred to me to try a smaller amount of leaf. I’ve been trying 5g and struggling with flavor… will try dialing back to 2.5g
You’re not the only one to think putting more tea leaves is better, sometimes less is better.
I purchased one of these and love it! Nice simple design, very easy to use and clean!
Glad you like it!
Ooh, I’ll take one of those turquoise and crystal qaiwan!
It’s yours! 😄
What a useful pot! I like the simple white look for it too. Thanks Leo!
It’s so simple. Not sure why I haven’t thought of this kind of teapot earlier.
hi I don't find the water recipe on your site
Hi, the water recipe is sold out now. Unfortunately, we’re not sure when we will bring the item back.
Interesting. Pu erh is my favourite, been drinking it for decades. Uncouth working man style - no rinse, steeped. I still love it, even the cheap restaurant ones - it has this sweet smooth mouth feel. I'll try this rinse and short steep sometime.
Great Review 📹 🎥 Hetmy where can I find the best DaHongpao and wuyi oolongs...
Thank you for posting this. Truly informative. The emphasis, on taking the time needed…to yield the most, out of its simplicity… I look forward to my first ceremony!!
Nice tip 👍
Aloha kakahiaka! Are you back in town?
Yes! Been back for two months now.

Wow, that's very new to me. I want to try it when we return there.
I actually felt like this before i couldn't stop laughing until i researched that tea drunk comes from an increase of serotonin and GABA levels
Thanks for taking us on this journey Leo!
amazing stuff!
Wow. Cool
