I just found a dry stored 1977 Double six, Squadron blue with black vinyl roof. It's been parked since 1996! luckily the guy drained both tanks, coolant and brake fluids. Should be a fairly easy job to bring it back to life.

Have you still got this cat? Current mileage?

Thanks Jag Man, I've just bought a 2005 XJ8 4.2litre in Radiance Red, what a cruisemobile ! My wife keeps finding excuses to drive it. I went for alloy construction this time round as I well recall rust in my 1963 Mk2 and my 84 series 3

Man, how lucky with that climate, reasonably happy with the undercarriage......it's friggin' spotless ! Easiest job ever.

It’s easy to restore a cloudy headlight. The issue is that you also polish away the protective uv coating so the headlight will go cloudy again in a few weeks. You have to spray on a uv coating after polishing

Do a product comparison on aluminium using autosol, mother's mag polish, gumption etc ....jags have plenty of chrome etc

Damper nut is 34mm

Perhaps removing the head might make a good video? I would certainly watch that. Much better than having to do it myself.😁

Really hope the old girl will turn over. A lot more viable to move on if she’s a runner. Certainly worth saving, she’s pretty solid. Good luck Brett.

It seems like the last owner had a lot of plans and parts to fix it up to his requirements… shame that didn’t happen and it got abandoned. Hopefully you can get it running and fit the fuel tanks, maybe strip out the daft aircon ? Use the worthwhile spares, sell on the rest….

Oh yeah , the old engine mount repair using araldite. Been there, done that. Lasted a few hours .... Although I think I reinforced it with tie-wire, Anyway, a big flop .....

You would be better off spending time sorting all your other Jaguars out.Starting with that headlining in that XJS of yours. There is an obvious reason that example has sat around for years. I know I sound harsh but I stand by my comment.

Buy this car. It’s very straight and someone really cared for it. If you can clean it up a bit, get it running and move it on then it would make a viable resto project for someone. The parts alone are worth it
