We asked our Academy and got a bunch of great answers. We also asked Billy Donovan (Men's Coach: Florida) and he said great point guards understand these three things with each possession:
1.) Who's Hot
2.) Is There A Mismatch
3.) When To Inject Yourself Into The Offense
What's interesting is the first two things point guards should look for have one thing in common - getting their teammates involved.

This is pretty much what his PG Westbrook does
Honestly i cant shoot 3's for shit, but my midrange is auto. I usually use step backs to help seperate space while sizing soemone , but 70 percent of the time i will choose to drive it inside. I want know how could i create shots for my team while having terrible spacing...Note i am always working on my 3 point, but just cant be consistently good
Herro there not sure if u still care or not but a way u can get shots for your team is setting them up. Like in the video look at your surroundings and think who can shoot and who's defender is in a good spot to get sucked in. You need to beat your man off the dribble or you could even have someone set a screen but your first look is to drive to the rim and score but if that's not there set your teammate up and find a way to suck a defender into helping guard you and the dump the ball of to them. That's the most effective technique I have found. Also when you are shooting threes just calm yourself before your shot and remember to not rush the shot. Hope this can help
Use off-ball screen
The game is just about creating space. Create space for you or your teammates. Best way is to drive in, draw a defender, and dish to your teammate that you just freed up from his defender. Next game you play, focus on drawing a defender and dishing.
Is Curry considered as a Combo Guard? since he shoots alot, and also makes plays.

Curry is a PG, different coaches had different schemes. Mark Jackson is a Pick N Roll disciple,Kerr uses a modified Princeton style offense which incorporates pick n roll with all sorts of players setting or using on ball screens. Don't let the illusion of schemes alter your opinion on a player's position....Russell Westbrook is a combo,James Harden who's now playing PG is a combo,Jrue Holiday is a combo,George Hill is a combo,Monta Ellis is a combo,Zach Lavine is a combo.Steve Francis was a combo in College/early days in Houston however he transitioned to PG right before Yao joined the Rockets ,Allen Iverson was a combo. In my book Combos are players who aren't traditional PG's in terms of running an offense however they're very creative with the ball in their hands and are typically explosive scorers who can play the PG. Most combos have never led a team to a Championship,it's difficult to win a championship with a combo as your PG.

What if me, the point guard is the one with the hot hand. Do I still create for others or create my own shot?
It's all about confidence. If you are absolutely feeling it, and can even run through two guys on you? Then do not question yourself at all.... just attack the basket. Then what do we do when we aren't exactly feeling it, or we really can't get through the double teams? Pass. A good point guard is all about balance. It's not about questioning whether you should attack or pass, but more so reading the floor and being aware of where your guys are at. My best advice for point guard is not to overthink things. You can't let your own thoughts cloud you, you have to get into the game and feel the motion and the pace... The best point guards like Nash and Kidd knew how to control the tempo of the game perfectly. They had strings in their hands and played the court like a puppet, to their own will.

+Viswanadh Budharaju Bro i am also a guardrd from INDIA.. and I totally agree that coaches here look at only scoring. So to get selected for the state camp and team..I HAD TO DISH OUT ASSISTS AND AT LEAST SCORE 10 POINTS...SO U HAVE TO GET SOME DISTANCE CREATING MOVES to also help u score and pass

this is good. but wait. if im a point guard with not a lot of scoring ability, but with great passing ability. what do i do? do i call a play that sets up mismatches for players and then isolate? do i send my hot hand guy on a few screens for an open shot or iso on the mid-range wing? or what if i have the mismatch?? do i just take advantage and try to become the main scorer myself? these are things that i will like to know.
