Try using pure sea salt or Redmonds real salt you’ll get a much better flavor and the color will be true on your eggs. Just a suggestion and did you water bath those or are those shelf stable at half-and-half?
Thank you for the Ripon sea salt. I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for watching and check out my BBQ pickled eggs if you have time.
That's some big garlic. It must be elephant garlic.
You answered a few questions that I had concerning sealing or not sealing; and whether to water bath or not. I didn't water bath this time and I didn't get a seal on any, but I only pickled 4 dozen eggs with one jar holding 1 1/2 dozen. That jar, a 64 ounce, has a snap ring lid on top. I think I'll use that one up first then the 4 - 32 oz. jars later. All in all my pickled eggs don't last long either being I eat about 2/day, which in this case they'll be gone in about 24 days. Thanks for the info.
If the jar didn't seal itsstill good. Just stick it in the fridge and they will be good for 6 months at least.
Thank you. That's exactly where they are. Much appreciated.
@johnnyutah4077 thanks for watching ourchannel.
Great looking eggs. Just would like to know the duration of boiling eggs and the portion ratio of water to vinegar please. Thank you
1 part white vinegar, 1 Part apple cider vinegar, 2 parts water. I just boil the eggs until they are hard boiled. No specific time.
Dude wants to make a video but doesn’t. Pretty weenie
@earlclaborn Sir, thank-you. Got my center punch, marked the brad pin, drilled it right open. Just needed to figure our what bit does metal best. Punched it through with a handy nail and used a sledge I had nearby as a prop like you did, a good call. Took more time to pry open the damn spade head and free the broken haft. You saved me plenty of time and frustration. But to hell with those pins, I'm gonna get bolts! 😅 Thank-you again.
AWSOME!! So glad you liked the video and is saved you time. Don't work too hard.
Did she had a girl baby calf before❤
Yes, she has had several calves before.
@@earlclaborn wow the four sisters and two brothers must be very proud they have a new little brother
Yes I'm sure
I've never heard of Orange Gatorade used for pickling eggs. I guess it's worth a try.
That was just my drink since it was so hot that day.

Iodized salt is not accepted for preservation. Iodized salt wasn’t used by our ancestors canning salt or kosher salt was used. Do some additional research. It (iodine) in excessive amounts can cause goiter {an enlarged thyroid gland} thyroid, gland, information, and fibroid cancer can also result from excessive iodine consumption
I'm a country cook and I have used iodized salt all my life and so has everyone in my family for multiple generations. I am not sure exactly what science has to say on the matter but I can speak from experience. My pickled eggs last for years in a jar and they are healthy for you. I don't use an excess and have never had health related complications.

OK I just tried to do that for 2 1/2 hours I had to drill it out and then it still didn’t come out so I put it in the fire pit and I poured gas in it and will eat it on fire for about an hour and it’s still stuck in there. This is not as easy as he’s showing you. I had actually drill that pin out. Therefore, I got a nice big hole on one side.
If the shovel handle is what I would call green, meaning strong and not worn out, then it could be more difficult. However the size of the drill bit you use can make a difference as well. I've changed dozens and dozens of handles but never had to set one on fire. I am sorry you had such a difficult time.
I'm no expert but I heard that you can use any salt without iodine. I wish I knew why so I would know if it's true or not. Before I knew that I used iodized salt plenty lol
Some peoplesaythatiodized salt causes clouding in the jars but I've canned for 40 years and never had that happen unless a jar doesn't seal. Use whatever salt you like and as long as your jar seals you're fine.
Very good thank you
Thanks for watching our channel.
Why add salt to brine when you added salt to each jar?
I like a little mixed in with the brine to make sure it devolves really good and is evenly distributed in my jars. It would be fine not to do it that way, but I've made so many jars it's hard to break the habbit.
I love all of the different veggies in this recipe I would definitely add some okra to it also
Okra and carrots are my favorite.
Ever use Balsamic vinegar?
I haven't but I've gotten comments before on thet. Some say it's great but I have no knowledge on it.
I always put my eggs in with ringed onions. I use yellow and red onions and I use already pickled jalapenos. I don't live on a homestead so I can only use grocery ingredients. I've NEVER heard of putting carrots in with the eggs, but I think that sounds delicious. I almost make my eggs STRONG. I don't dilute my pickling vinegar with water. But I am going to try the apple cider and white vinegar half and half mix. Love pickled eggs... And I love to see how other people prepare them.
Your recipe sounds great as well. I'm tempted to try the stronger brine. I've heard that comment a few times. Just makes me curious how they will taste. I love the idea of ringed onions as well.
Some direction would be nice
That's just the short. Check out the full video on my page and thanks for watching.
Do you store these on the shelf or refrigerated?
I keep them on a shelf until I open them. After opening them I always keep refrigedated
If you're going to put in the effort in you might as well have more than just eggs. This looks like one of the better tutorials and I'm doing it today. I too have chickens and I don't have a great love for eggs but pickled yes I do. Thanks for the wisdom.
Thanks for watching. Let me know how you like yours.
Genius 😮
This is how we did it along time ago before we all had dehydrators
Love it!😂 My dad was a judge; I wish he were still with us cause he would have gotten a kick out of this joke!
I love it that you are scrolling through and listening to the jokes. I have several youtube shorts that are very funny jokes. I am sure your dad would have loved this one.
I'm excited to try this recipe. Thank you for sharing it and great tutorial🤸🙂
Let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching.
Is it okay to refrigerate them after they cool? I actually like my pickled eggs cold.
Sure thing. I usually put mine in the fridge before I open mine because I like them cold too.
I'm definitely going to make this!
Let me know how you like them.

The Brine must be a secret 😢
The brine is 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. I use an equal amount of white vinegar and apple cider vinegar though. The apple cider vinegar gives it that extra kick!!!
Got one going now. What a pain.Big teats and stubborn calve.
I bought every milk machine on Amazon thinking I could make the job easier. Just a word of advice....don't buy them. They are junk and can't do the job. Hope your calf does well.
I think you forgot the sugar.
Sometimes I do add sugar to the recipes and it is great with or without it

I don’t know if it was the angle of the camera but the garlic looked huge!!
I have had several comments on the size of my garlic. Thanks for noticing. I am going to have to do a video on how to grow garlic. Haha. I never knew it was bigger than others. That's just what I am used to. Thanks for watching.
I so appreciate your non-offended discussion on salts people can get so huffy about this. I looked it up for history sake they started putting iodine in salt in 1920. I thought that bit of history would be interesting for everybody so yes people since 1920 have been using iodized salt to can and pickle with thank you for your videos I have been canning for 50 years, but just recently in the last few years I have been making pickled eggs. It is a wonderful snack, full of flavor and high protein no carbs for diabetics.
You should check out my pickled eggs video on BBQ pickled eggs. I know it sounds crazy but if you like BBQ it's awsome!!! Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the compliment.
need work on your skills
What's skills need work in your opinion?????
I have also tried shotgun reds pickeled shrimp its almost addictive
I would like to try that myself.
Definately will make some soon. I will be adding a habenero scorpion pepper & a dash of molasses- im a big fan of sweet& heat
Oh I never thought of molasses but that sounds fantastic!!! I like it too
Those eggs look like shit 😂
Please answer How long will these keep? They are not processed. Thanks in advance.
I have safely kept mine for as much as 9 months on a shelf. They should keep longer but we eat them too fast. I feel safe in saying over a year though.
@@earlclaborn thanks !
❤️
That was dinosaur sized garlic my man I need some of that in my life
Thanks for watching. I've had a few comments om the size of my garlic. I need to do a video on how to grow garlic I guess.
That's great! After they are dried , then how do you store them and how long do they last?
I just put them in a zip lock bag I and stick them on a shelf.
When you add okra, it doesn't need to be cooked either does it? It just goes in raw.
I don't cook the okra. By not cooking any of the veggies they will stay crunchy and fresh tasting when you open the jar. Thanks for watching. If you try these let me know how they turn out!!!!
@@earlclaborn I will I'm making some today! Super excited to see how they turn out. Thank you
@@kimbass5220 remember after finishing everything up it takes 2 weeks before they are totally done, but I usually Crack open a jar at about 7 or 8 days and they are fantastic.
@@earlclaborn have you ever added Cauliflower? I love pickeled Cauliflower! I would like to add that if it will turn out ok.
@@kimbass5220 oh my I never thought of that but it certainly sounds delicious and I wouldn't mind trying that myself. I may incorporate that in my next batch.
I love pickled eggs and have tried many recipes. Only question I have is why you say the brine has to be 50% vinegar and water? I’ve seen many recipes with 100% vinegar brine and they were great. Just curious.
Adding the water to the brine is just a change in personal preference. It is fine with pure vinegar bit the eggs will have a much stronger taste.
Update they turned out great!!! Thanks for the tutorial and easy directions!!!!
Awsome. I love it when other people are happy with something I helped create.
Thank you
Thanks for watching
So how long are the eggs good for if I didn’t water bath them? Also thanks for video, I made some yesterday excited to try them tomorrow
If you don't water bath them they are still good for many many months. Maybe even a year. I have kept them for over 9 months on a shelf without water bathing them.
Would it help to use PL construction adhesive in the handle first ??
I wouldn't because at some point in the future you may need to replace another handle and it would be hard to get the adhesive and remainder if the handle out of the shovel.
@@earlclaborn thank you for your reply. My thinking at this age is a new handle would likely last longer than me, so a future handle replacement would be left up to a younger generation of our society……😜
You never know. The handle I just replaced was in a brand new shovel. I backed up my truck and had the shovel hanging over the side and hit a fence post. Broke a brand new handle.
How long will these eggs keep, if they’re being prepared, for prepping?
I have kept them for as much as a year and they are still perfectly fine. Just like green beans or tomatoes in a jar.
Used this to help me put a handle on my highlands fork, thanks for the overview or the process
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback. Hope the new handle lasts a lifetime.
Add more water!!
