I sat down with the very first guitarist that I ever saw in person redefine it in front of me, the one and only Erich Avinger, and years later he still is as amazing as ever!
Mark was very special to me I got to hang with hom some and we were immediately friends ! This aint fair for him to now be gone !!
So sorry to learn that we have lost Mark as the result of a tragic car accident! He will be sadly missed. Thank you for this great interview.

Great interview with a guy Ive looked up to since I saw Helstar play a Battle Of The Bands at Newmans Music in Pasadena Plaza around 1982. I was in a band called Broken Glass. We were all still in High School. When Helstar played they had pro gear and their sound was huge and incredible. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Larry was absolutely shredding that guitar he was playing. I guess I came away from that knowing we had been beat bad. For some reason the biased judges picked 2 winners...Helstar and Broken Glass. But I knew that Helstar won by a mile. Im glad we crossed paths back then. Hope to cross paths again. Im still playing as well. Glad to see your success!

I did a lesson with him on the last tour. He’s not a evh fan. Doesn’t do finger tapping. He didn’t slam evh, just said it wasn’t his deal. Thought that was interesting
