Now The Rev. Al Green 💓 I have loved Al since the late sixties, I was a teen when I found this amazing singer. He was incredibly popular, women went crazy over his voice, then he had enough of the life in spotlight and went back to the church to give his message to the people. He did full circle, being brought up to revere the church & it’s hymns, then the family moved from the country up to Michigan where Al discovered a new kind of music and began singing the music of Motown… well his father kicked him out of the home and young Al wandered around singing & did have a band, then he was discovered by his agent and went on to become a huge r & b singer… this went on for years until he felt the church calling him home & from then to present day is a preacher ( bringing him full circle). The writing of the song helped bring the brothers back together. Billboard ranked the track as No. 5 song for the year of 1971. Lyrically, the song is genius. Its central question about how to mend a broken heart is answered in one word never actually uttered by Robin Gibb: Love. Barry and Robin wrote the song as they were bringing the band back together after the Bee Gees had split up. It really is a song about the brothers and for the brothers but it reflects the universality of sorrow being vanquished by joy, the joy of love. This most human of truths will remain a constant as long as people live. I love Freddie no matter *what* he’s singing ! Ballads? Yes ! Rock? Yes ! Old-timey Music Hall style? Yes. Weird fantasy prog-rock? Yes. Disco/Funk? Yes. A fusion of Pop and Opera with Montserrat Caballé? YES ! The man was a musical/vocal genius with a generous dollop of Best Frontman Ever.

I agree with previous comments, this is definitely a fake …. maybe an Elvis impersonator, but not Elvis himself. This song was on Queen’s 8th studio album released in June 1980, almost 3 years after Elvis died.

Ugh. Elvis was already dead when Freddie wrote this song. It’s a QUEEN original. Freddie wrote it *in tribute* to Elvis (and all the other rockabilly artists from the 50s/ 60s). That’s not Elvis Presley’s voice in this pseudo-duet, it’s some impersonator.

This hits me deep because my oldest sister died 3 months before I was born which effected me in a big way because I actually remember the nightmares my mother had when I was in the womb and in life I’ve felt her as a guardian angel because there’s been many times when I should have died but survived
