When i replaced speakers/coils, i did it always in pairs. There is one case when may be replaced only one speaker - when you replace for the same one (the same manufacturer, the same parameters, used for used)... Or its mono speaker😜 You replaced tweeter coil for something you know nothing about. It may be different impedance, characteristics, etc. It may play just louder or oppossite. For your garage use, there could be installed even street lantern. And at the end you could make just simple test. Playing from computer a few of high frequencies and recording them at the same time via microphone. Speakers should be recorded from the same place, the same channel amp etc. At least visualy you can compare then your fix. Cheers G P. S. And washers under speakers. I always install them, no matter they were there before or not. Even small air leak may make your sound crap.
