    If theres not a 1 way check valve in that can, its not working and will screw up a tune. Theres a reason the mighty mouse system is $330 and the amazon kits are $40. Need a breather with a 1 way check valve.

    Glad to see you & others making video's on this old problem. I bought my 1998 C5 14 yrs. ago and never had Service Column Lock message, Pull Key Wait 10 Seconds message and my Security light worked correctly. Until 2019 my Security light would come on while driving, but would go off after a bit of driving. Then it started staying on longer while driving. Then my starting issue began. Took it to an Electrical shop and the manager said he knew exactly what it was. They did the Module bypass and my car done fine on the drive home. No Security light, no Service Column Lock message, No Pull Key, wait 10 Secs. message. Got home and went to drive the car a short time later and it cut off backing out of my driveway. Tried to start it and it started right up. But had the Pull key wait 10 secs. message. Which I'd never had before. So i waited 10 secs. and tried again all seemed fine. But i called the shop to let them know. They told me they've never had a module to fail. But told me to bring it back and they would replace the module they put in. Got the car back the second time and still had the same issues, security light on while driving & Pull key wait 10secs. message. So i didn't call the shop after the again. Because i felt they didn't know what they were doing at that point. But this was just the beginning of my nightmare! Because my car began to not start every time. Leaving me stranded numerous times over the past 5 yrs. Even just a few mos. ago. 5 yrs. ago i didn't know about these common issues with the C5s. But since then I've watched about every You Tube video & read Corvette forums about these issues. And last week for the first time, I got the Service Column lock message. I'm so frustrated because I love my car, but I don't know what to do at this point.

    12.70s with a simple cheap change !! Old school boxed hood scoop used if you can find one ! An air pan to make it complete and use it for the strip only !!!! Put the filter back on after racing it for street use !! It will make such a change in performance you will most likely have to jet it up 3 or 4 sizes !!!! You do that you will see 107 to 108 mph !!!! GUARANTEED !!!!! forced induction CHEAP !!!! That car is now sucking air thru a restrictive cleaner and all that engine heat !!!! If you value your hood get a spare hood but you are seriously choking out that motor !!! Or cut a circle out the size of the air cleaner putting a tall unrestrictive air cleaner on the putting a functional hood scoop on which will always help to organize and intensify air flow in your motor !!!! Engine will also run cooler !!!! I'm 61 retired from bracket racing with 20+ years experience !! Old school is still the most gratifying !!!! It takes more horsepower to turn a clutch and a manual transmission !!! They're fun but it does take away power and speed and more expensive to maintain also more frequently !!! 350 turbo are lighter take less horsepower and maintenance and it is rare for a torque converter to go bad !!!! Just some FYI !!! There are so many variables in small changes you could do to bring that beast down into the low 12s without changing the motor !!! But it is important to find out your engine's component numbers and existing parts !!!! That what you have is a pure diamond in the rough and make great bracket cars !!! Perfect drag cars !!!! If I didn't have a Vega I would have had a 70s Nova !!!!!

    • @RacerXGarage
      @RacerXGarage Před 27 dny

      haha, thanks for following along! I love the Nova and this was a ton of fun but this trip out was more a less a one time thing, it wont ever be something that gets raced often. The car is too original to cut up or add roll bars/subframe connectors. It will also be getting a TKX 5 speed trans and lowering the gear so I can drive it more often. As well as building a more street-able roller cam 383. Appreciate the comments and advice! Have a great week!

  • @circletrack7538
    @circletrack7538 Před 27 dny

    12s are plenty respectable !!! Any schlub with money can buy fast but not quick !! All those phony pieces of high dollar junk in fast and the furious NOT one of them got close to the twelves !!! The truth be told the fastest ran a mid 13 so don't look at 12s as a small accomplishment !!!! You can have a lot of horsepower and not run 12s !!! It's about the right combination !!! I DO highly suggest you tie that frame in or you will twist it !!! 2 - 3 to 5 ' 2" × 3" box tubing mild steel cut out 2 - 2inch sections between the subframe give it a tight fit and weld it into each frame end and to the existing floor !!!! Not that expensive and it will strengthen the frame a ton !!!! So will putting a 6 or 8 point roll bar !! That setup would hold high 10s !!!!

  • @circletrack7538
    @circletrack7538 Před 27 dny

    The MSD Box ripped out because it was flexing the chassis !!! There is no other explanation that makes sense !!!! Your MSD should be mounted on the passenger upper inside floor !!! If mounted right flexing would NOT be an issue !!!

  • @circletrack7538
    @circletrack7538 Před 27 dny

    The open header closed exhaust deal has nothing to do with your carb setup unless your running too small exhaust tubes and the wrong carb !! That clutch dropping will tare that car up and twist that frame !! Frame connectors and a roll bar will keep it from twist damage !!!

  • @circletrack7538
    @circletrack7538 Před 27 dny

    Having fun I understand but a 4 speed clutch car with what I would guess about 300+ HP and I'm guessing not even frame connectors it won't be long before you start to tweak the chassis !!!! You want it in the 12s put a 350 turbo in it with a 10 inch converter !!

      definitely was a learning experience! Knowing what I know now and with some little tricks it won't be so bad but I def hope to not have to do it again any time soon!

      I cant off hand remember the color of the o-ring, but you can test fit the ones that come in the gasket kit. One will be too large and will be obvious, or at least that was my experience. Also I matched the old one up.

    Thank you for taking the time to make the video. I have the same issue with a 2007 4.3l, I have been looking for reviews on the crank adapter. I just ordered one.

    Great video! Not a criticism, just a question... if the clockspring connector hadn't been broken getting it out, could you have adapted it over to run the original horn wires to the horn button on that wheel? (If the horn button fit, I mean...)

    • @RacerXGarage
      @RacerXGarage Před měsícem

      I dont think so, its much larger than the aftermarket wheel, and has to be removed for the adapter to fit. I bet someone could 3d print something for the cancel cam, but I dont think you can get the horn to work without a really early column because they were the same as GM

    Im kind of lost limited slip is not full blown posi can you hold the other side or does it still spin the same way as your turning meaning if you hold other side does it stop spinning?

    • @RacerXGarage
      @RacerXGarage Před měsícem

      "limited slip" and "posi" are interchangeable terms. They are the same thing; "posi" being a Mopar coined phrase from their "posi-traction" carrier, most other manufacturers term their carriers "limited Slip". They're both clutch style carriers that under load will turn both sides at the same time, yet when not under load will allow for the outer wheel to spin faster than the inner in a turn. Either carrier will allow you to stop spinning one side when testing it by design (clutches) but they key difference from a non "posi/limited" would be that "open" differentials use spider gears. You can tell a open differential by turning one wheel and the opposing wheel will rotate the opposite direction. The only style carrier that will always spin the opposing wheel would be a spool or mini spool setup (and sometimes a locker but it will stop if needed).

    I can not for the life of me find those -12 a fittings with the barbed fitting.

    • @RacerXGarage
      @RacerXGarage Před měsícem

      I think I said these were 3/8ths in the video but I believe they wound up being 5/16 barb. Either way, they are very difficult to find, and I wound up changing it to a catch can system.
