    This was a very interesting sermon. I have been reading the New Testament with two Bible study friends. And it seems Paul is very central to Christianity. I would like to ask Bishop Barron the question, is Paul to Christianity as Moses was to the Jews. Paul had a very distinct resume… he could speak or write to Roman aristocracy, as well as jewish parish authorities, he was a Roman citizen, and highly educated as Moses was…. as Moses spoke with authority to the Egyptian royal court. Paul doesn’t seem to get the same status within the Christian church as Moses… but he seems to be central to getting, Jews, Roman authorities, and gentiles converted and defining this very new religion.

    Poor christians, they hate each other more than they hate any atheists. I do love how catholics and other christians attack each other and yet none of them can do what their jesus promises. It's eve more fun when these christains claim that their god isn't what atheists think their god is. Unfortunately, many of us were former christians and have read the bible. We know that's a lie. Barron simply fails at his excuses. Aquinas' claims are much the same as any cults, and depend entirely on presuppositions that cannot be shown true.

    Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I’m a lay person who has gone 12 years to catholic school. Practiced my faith. My children were raised catholic but they have left the faith. One is more to the far right and the other to the far left. Politically! I learn so much from listening to these small seminars that I listen. I wish I had taken more theology and philosophy courses in college. I’m a registered nurse with a bachelor degree. I have a great deal of experience in nursing as I am a senior. I’m trying to learn as much as I can to maybe help my children.

    One of the most inspirational autobiographies I’ve ever read is Infidel,by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, she is such a brave individual , never mind she is a woman, rescuing Somali refuges, crossing borders or in the Netherlands, she was always putting her life on the line for ‘others’…for their freedom. How could she not be a Christian? Even though she said she was an atheist (after the book)…I never believed that..😂… she has to be a Christian…with that sense of individual justice, and actually putting her life on the line for ‘others’. ❤✝️.

    Great discussion on the good and bad effects of technology. We just had our first experiment on an experimental biological technology…coronavirus and the new experimental vaccines. The interesting thing about the coronavirus and the vaccine was it was handled globally, by the very powerful WHO (UN). This group is so powerful that doctor’s, and government agencies were silent and afraid to speak out, knowing these vaccines were experimental and having no data to look at (except what pharma and WHO published). It raises the question… who decides what steps to take, and who should be handed power to make these decisions involving new technologies….WHO can no longer be trusted, it has shown it is a political organization just like it’s parent…the UN. Global power, in this case, was a disaster. Millions died, and were injured and it is still being forced on people.

    How many kings give up power over their people, when they don’t have to? Cyrus seems to go in the opposite direction that kings go in, he was listening to God. When Pharoah was told to let the slaves go (Jews), he went in the opposite direction as Cyrus, and it led to the fall of the great Egypt. Thank you Bishop Barron for that really interesting sermon on king Cyrus of Persia. ❤✝️

    It can only be called a failure in the sense that some in the church - disgracefully - are trying to ignore or row back on it, instead of build on it. I think some very naively blame the decline in church attendance on it. _That_ _was_ _happening_ _anyway_ , and would have happened quicker without it. As if people desert the church because it stopped praying in Latin! Anyone who would do that is not really a Christian to start with.

    Money was killing the Catholic culture in the US before Vatican 2. Middle class suburban values leave little room for God amid commuting, saving up wealth and globetrotting the world as tourists. You can't go back to a poor, urban or rural culture if you hate the poor except on old Bing Crosby movies.

  • @enghockchew3517
    @enghockchew3517 Před měsícem

    I know there are many out there that dislike 2 Vatican council, and base on my observation is simple ..because the council challenges us as Christians. The challenge to 'change', nobody likes to change but we do not change for the sake of changed but Christ. The world needs to know Jesus...and the reason is simple without Jesus we are unable to find satisfaction and fulfilment as human person. To say the Church cannot change...no reformed...but stick to her traditions be it style, approaches, methods...etc and say it works as it produces saints anyway ..why the need to change? But the world is changing, human mind is changing in her style and approaches on her pursue of happiness and fulfilment...and we who have been entrusted by God himself to bring about the good news for salvation prefer to stick to traditions that have proven to be effective are still attached to these traditions?

    • @marcokite
      @marcokite Před měsícem

      Not quite, Vat II 'challenges' us to dilute the Faith, there was no 'reform' only an attack on the Church and the Liturgy. A TOTAL failure.

    • @paddymeboy
      @paddymeboy Před měsícem

      Right. In an uncertain world people want to cling to what they know, and don't want to be challenged. But it is their obligation as Catholics to face that challenge. The world they knew, and the church they knew, are passing away whether they like it or not.
