Im from Chile, we are used to eartquakes and i used to love them but i lived the 2010 8.8 eartquake and since then i totally panic everytime any small eartquake starts becaise you dont know how big they can become.

I experienced a strong earthquake, and I held by a post, which is suppose to be a dangerous spot. Survival instinct kicks out so much you would think running out and grasping onto something can resist from the earthquake. You wouldn't even think about what you learned from a drill. It's terrifying.

Nice catch. Gotta have eagle eyes to notice that. There are 2 types of waves in an earthquake. P or primary waves and S or secondary waves. P waves are the fastest and arrive first. They cause this sort of lateral motion as they cause compression and expansion of the ground. Like an accordion. P waves can travel through solid or liquid, so they're always the first to arrive. Hence they are primary. S waves are more like you would imagine waves on a pond. Rippling up and down. Sinusoidal waves. They arrive after the P waves. S waves cause more shearing effects and shaking than P waves, so they tend to cause the most destruction.

I remember being 5 at the time when this earthquake hit in 2015. I'm from Uttar Pradesh (a state in Indian which is located to the south of nepal) and I live very near to the border of India and Nepal so I'll be telling my experience of this earthquake. So i was little and it was saturday so my school was off but my elder cousin still had to go since she was in a higher grade than me, it was afternoon i think maybe 12:30-3:20 PM ish when the earthquake hit, me and my family members rushed out of our homes into a empty flat garden with our neighbours in hopes of staying safe, And the experience was horrifying wires shaking, ground shaking, debris and dust falling from old buildings etc. We were so scared of the aftershock effects an earthquake can have so we sleeped outside for the night with tents and blankets and there was literally no power that day. We felt little aftershocks during 9:12 PM at night. And i almost forgot the guys rushing on vehicles during the earthquake to go get my elder cousin from school during the disaster. Anyways, after 1 week when our schools reopened I saw cracks everywhere and i mean everywhere like ceiling, floor, mostly on walls etc.
